To Everyone,

Since this thread is related to browser technology, this should have gone to more technical forum, but I feel that it is important to know about what's going on with the browser technology for sake of security.

I've been using Firefox for a long while, approximately 6 months, and am impressed with Firefox. It contains built in pop-up blocker, better web standard compliance, (see Eric Meyer CSS Edge download Firefox and compare his web sites with Internet Explorer and you will see benefits in web standard compliance), prevents automated virus spread, blocks out spyware and it includes tabbing feature which allows you to open many web sites in one window, and better download management as well.

What's more it's FREE!! I strenuously recommend that EVERYONE try it out! Compared to IE download (approximately 25-30 MB) it is only 4.7 MB in size! It is lean and fast browser too. Try it out! FireFox
 
I prefer Opera than Mozilla. Mozilla is a mess and it's inconsistent. IE and Opera are the closest to CSS standards.

well i use Avant browser hehe has test those in last few days not too bad load pages pretty fast for me.
 
I've been using FireFox, too for the last 6 months and I find it impressive. I tried Opera, didn't like it -- it took over a lot of images that didn't belong to Opera viewer and have tried Avant...not too shabby. :)

IE is nowhere near CSS compliant -- doesn't allow :hover to work on any elements ELSE than anchors. Selectors doesn't work either. Fixed background failed on different dimension else than body's background.

Microsoft met CSS only by it's key core elements, nothing more i.e. selectors, :hover and such. You can read more on this this web which states that:

"All browsers have CSS bugs, and IE leads the pack in this area, but that is not the end of the story. Microsoft has seen fit to engineer their browser to deliberately violate the standards in several critical ways. It might just be a mis-guided attempt to "make it simple" for newbie coders, or it might be a cynical ploy to crush the competition, but in any case it creates huge headaches for those of us who desire to employ CSS positioning on our pages."

Let me demonstrate using ONE simple CSS feature that most CSS browser employ that IE failed to comply:
CSS :hover else than <a>

And so on....

You will realize HOW important :hover property influence can be, let's consider this web , hover your mouse on menu, and look for difference between IE and other browsers that are more CSS compliant.

I used that feature at ClientLogic with so much LESS coding with Javascript that forces IE to be more CSS compliant (with few bugs of course) for our 700+ documents to be displayed in fancy drop-down menu with more than 3 sublevels. It allows simple-minded employees to add or subtract with ease using notepads.

I'm not sure if Avant is CSS compliant browser, but you can test it out using links that I mentioned earlier. I will ask around in CSS Mailing list and let you know how Avant fares in CSS compliance.

So far Opera, Mozilla and Safari are the most CSS compliant browsers TO MY KNOWLEDGE, and there might be more out there.

I also like Opera. I have it installed in my system as second option. What I love about it is it allows you to switch to various styles, hide images, switch to text view, accessibilities and so many more. Opera also offers IRC as well! The reason why I prefer FireFox is, because it also works with other X11 based programs in Linux OS.

I use it religiously. Even its extensions are heavenly!

Firefox for Mac OS X, the one I'm using right now...it's a pretty good browser for java support, pretty swifty and stable, too...I use Safari too. Those are the 2 main browsers I use. :) Go Firefox!

i ve been thur mozilla you r right it screw up mu cpu i delete it

Avant browser is good one. Includes tabbing, pop-up blocker and everything, but its engine is based on Internet Explorer so it is not CSS compliant. Here is what Download.com say about Avant browser:

Starting from the Internet Explorer engine, Avant Browser adds useful capabilities like a pop-up blocker, grouped favorites, and tabbed browsing. The first thing we noticed upon launch was the aesthetically pleasing skin that came as the default with Avant Browser, but you can choose from among many preloaded skins in the Tools menu. The tabbed browsing feature lets you quickly switch among Web sites rather than having to shuffle through several browser instances in the Windows task bar. If you visit several Favorites often, you can save them as a group and open the whole group with one click. When you shut down the program, Avant Browser remembers which windows were open and launches them the next time it starts up. You also can automatically refresh all windows or only the current one at regular intervals. A simple pop-up blocker works in most cases, but it was powerless against some floating banners and other, more obscure pop-up methods. Overall, we found Avant Browser to be a great alternative to Internet Explorer, with useful features that make browsing even more efficient.

Because Mozilla is in its early stage - not yet fully released. If it screws up your computer, you can report it to Mozilla's bug here.
It has been constantly improving, features added and everything. You can re-test and see if it still screw up your computer, then let me or FireFox team know.
 
I have been using firefox for ohh... I dunno how long :D

but Love it, I feel "comfortable" with Firefox than IE, Opera etc

i had been using avant browser till my friend pulling me to firefox so i did download it... what i see firefox and avant...

Firefox has firewalls, but don't have the saved website when you accident click X

i would say i choose firefox because it has everything to prevent you expect one is the saved website.. i do enjoy having firefox..
 
I just downloaded FireFox and it's a lot better than I expected. It said it uses Mozilla so I thought it was identical to the one that AOL-Netscape uses. I was wrong!
