Ubi Soft reveals that the GameCube and GBA versions of Splinter Cell will incorporate a number of features that will be available only when the two are connected.

Ubi Soft has today revealed that the upcoming GameCube and Game Boy Advance versions of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell will incorporate a number of features that can be accessed only when the two games are connected. Connecting to the GameCube version of the game while playing Splinter Cell on the GBA will open up five additional levels, while hooking up the GBA when playing Splinter Cell on the GameCube will allow players to take advantage of a number of new features.
When playing the GameCube version of Splinter Cell with a GBA attached, players will be able to use the handheld's screen as a remote extension for Fisher's OPSAT minimap. The Game Boy Advance will also be used as a remote control for certain weapons and gadgets in the game, including a brand-new GameCube-exclusive weapon--the sticky bomb.

"Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell's high quality of gameplay and compelling story line transcend platform boundaries," said Alain Corre, managing director of Ubi Soft Entertainment for Europe, Asia Pacific, and South America. "From the Xbox to the PlayStation 2 to the PC, and now the Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell consistently delivers a great gameplay experience, and provided a unique experience on each console. The linked-play capabilities of the Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance is a perfect example of how Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell takes full advantage of each console's capabilities, setting new standards for what gamers expect from their favorite platforms."

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is a stealth-based action game in which players assume the role of a lone shadow operative named Sam Fisher who must single-handedly save the world from a terrorist threat. Fisher is armed with a great variety of weapons and gadgets, including remote cameras, thermal goggles, night vision, wall mines, gas grenades, camera jammers, and the like.

The GameCube and GBA versions of Splinter Cell are scheduled for release in North America on May 6 and in Europe on June 5. We'll bring you more information on the games as it becomes available. In the meantime, you might like to check out our reviews of the Xbox and PC versions of the game.
