Spanish and VRS

Correction -- VRS companies have 30 days to implement it. I don't know if it's a REQUIRED service or if it's an optional service, i.e., your VRS company can choose to provide it or not.

SprintVRS will probably have Spanish VRS available immediately.

Breaking the language barrier is long overdue in the VRS game. Shoud not be limited to Spanish. Irvine has a large Japanese deaf community and Los Angeles has a large Russian deaf community. Thats why we have our brochures on Spanish, Japanese, and Russian.

Not to start a flame war, but why should the private business in the United States have to bend backwards to offer other languages to non-english speaking customers? This is America, Land of the Free, if they want to come here to America, learn to speak english!

Err, it's the land of the free, they're free to learn whatever language they want and expect communcations access for it.

Besides, the VRS users HAVE learned ASL -- which is AMERICAN sign language -- and are using it to communicate with their community, family, and friends who are spanish.

Many legitimate businesses do their business only via Spanish.

Don't discriminate against those who have come to this great country just because their FAMILY or FRIENDS don't speak English.
