Sorenson connect D-Links ?

Kudos....

Anyone please share info about No-IP. Of course, I am not an expert in that info.

For NO-IP users,
why do you prefer to provide your (userid).no-ip.info instead of IP address. I tried to assume GalaxyAngel that it is free. However, she thinks that she has to pay....

Signing up for a no-ip.com address is a no-brainer, a very smart move, to be able to easily communicate between Sorenson and D-Link videophones.

It's FREE. FREE. FREE. Actually, no-ip.org is free, so pick a DNS name with that instead. If anyone tells you that you have to pay, they are WRONG WRONG WRONG.

IP addresses often change at random times. Having a no-ip address and keeping the IP address on the no-ip address site up to date means that your friends and family and doctor and everyone else can just know your no-ip address instead of guessing if your IP address has changed.

Besides, what's easier to remember:

66.158.142.3

OR

dennis.no-ip.org?

Dennis,

does that mean we do not own permanent IP Address? I thought we are paying to Internet services for leasing the IP addresses. Just like a cell phones that we do own phone numbers.

Am I confused that the court judge awarded to the cell phone customers for owning the phone numbers instead of any cell phone companies...

Your right, PLUS big advantage is that most of ISP reassigns you with new IP address and you have to give out your friends all over again with new IP address or with domain name, it never changes, you can even set router to update the IP address with your domain name.

There are two different domain name you can choose, one is custom domain which you pay a fee for. Other is called sub-domain which generall is free. You choose which domain name you want to use and add the sub-name on that domain. There is all there is needed.

For example, with subdomain, you can pick one of their available domain name, like noip.tv then add alldeaf to noip.tv which gives you alldeaf.noip.tv That is it! You set up in the router, the part where you see "Custom DDNS" just add your user id, password, and subdomain. Then there is it! Not much work involved.
I have my own domain name and it worked so well, that I forgot what the new IP address was! believe it or not in the past 6 months, my ISP changed my IP address 5 times! (Maybe more, I don't know for sure)

Please Help

Thanks in advance for any information. I am trying to help my aunt(she is hearing), who has many deaf friends. She was going to get a d-link since we cannot get a sorenson video phone. I am well versed on how to install and normal use of it. I am aware that we must use IP addys to reach them (sorenson units) and them to reach us. I understand that two d-links can use the number to dial instead if we want via the i2eye directory...

My question is will she be able to contact the friends who have a sorenson video phone without issues. I hear mixed things on the two units working together. Does anyone here use dlink to contact persons with sorenson and have done this without fail or issues? I really don't want to have to return the dlink if it does not work with the sorenson users because dlink company is hard to deal with.

Thanks for any info.
