This is called reasonable doubt, you already have reasonable doubt on this case, and if I were the 13th juror, I can't vote guilty on this one.
I can see why he might have removed it. These types of smoke detector designed for the Deaf is MUCH louder than the regular smoke detector. It can me nuisance to him with false alarm. Now the question is, why no mention of accelerants?
I don't believe every investigators are that honest or has 100% integrity in them. That is why we have jurors to protect these innocent accusers.
