Social Security Benefits Will Get Small Cost of Living Bump

Sad that you have a tweenty tiny tunnel vision. "Rights to get SSDI" my ass! The law CAN and WILL change so don't depend on it.

With 15 Trillion dollars debts along with Social security already pay out more than they collect. This is a time bomb, do you expect SSDI to be there when you need?

We have no idea what will happen on this coming January 2013. If government fails to act by January 2nd, there will be automatic budget cuts and jack up tax rates. The problem with issues like that is that if serious tax rate had shot up, trust me more lay offs will come in which in turn will trigger even more spending cuts which could ultimate result more lay offs to the point where we are going to go back to 1929 or even worse.

That is what Fiscal cliff is all about. For over 40 years almost all government branches kept borrowing Social Security funds and they are starting to running out of options. Thanks to Richard Nixon for the idea of borrowing SS monies to solve the budget woes back in 70's.

That affects SS too, that what old people (over 65) receive SS benefit will hit so hard, so same goes with SSDI and SSI.

Didn't you read my previous post? Laws can't change my disability insurance.

Just not worry because the congress will try to fix the SS to make more sustainable and you won't lose any benefits.

Yeah, there are too many unnecessary laws on the books, several of them needs to be repealed. Its getting very expensive to have big government that we have. Our government never intended to be this big but somehow in the past many of greedy politicians want favor for themselves and friends creating thousands or maybe millions of needless laws costing us billions, billions of dollars in long run without positive benefits for the Americans. Now we are in deep debt, and this has to be fix otherwise collapse of US government can happen like in USSR (Union Soviet Society Republic). USSR collapsed because they have too much control in society result bankruptcy themselves.

Bad advise, what if Congress failed fix it? Do you have solution? As of this time, there is no hard solution to the problem that we are having.

I doubt that our government will collapse, but sure they do have massive budget problem and it doesn't make them collapse if they fail to resolve the budget problem.

Compare USA with USSR is just apple to orange because USSR was pure communist and had planned economy, so there were no economic freedom. USA has mixed economy and they have greater economic freedom, even you are free to create a new business, so they have better chance to survive, but the congress is responsible to resolve any budget issues, including debt.

You know about Venezuela - their government is all fucked up and they have very high inflation (over 30%), and more difficult to find a basic source like milk, eggs, flour, bread, meat and food/drink. The economic freedom in Venezuela is just overkill and their government tighten the control over economy.

They will resolve at very last minute when radical politicians in the congress will forced to abandon their belief by make bipartisanship support. When government shutdown or debt crisis looming so the congress will try so hard to fix at last minute.

There are five main budget spending. One of them can not be cut, that is interest paid for 15 trillion dollars debt, leaving 4 categories to choose to cut the budget, (This is getting scarier).

First: Interest spent for 15 trillion dollars debt
second: Social Security Spending
Third: Safety net (Welfare, highway spending, various programs, government employees, war on drugs etc)
Forth: DOD (Department of Defense)
Fifth: Medicare

Now, which one should we cut the budget? The first one, is obviously we can't cut. This leaves 4 categories. If we fail to get down to budget, the credit rating for Uncle Sam is going downgrade which result increase spending on the first category (Interest only).

See where the problem is? How to solve this problem? Not many people realize how serious this problem that we are facing on January 2nd.

Policy Basics: Where Do Our Federal Tax Dollars Go? — Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

Try to kick drug abusers out of SSI, but they require drug test that result in question about constitutionality of drug test for welfare recipient.

Allow Medicare to negotiable with drug companies that give a prescription drugs at lower cost like Veteran Affairs did with Tricare. We need try to get cost of medical care to under control.

Modernize the DoD budget to make more effective and same strengthen with less funds.

Freeze the annual pay raise for federal employees and end the war on drugs.

Fix the welfare fraud and minimize the fund loss due to fraud.

Increase the tax rate by few percent for wealthily people.

There are more idea - but I think economists can give a good advice about how resolve the budget problem.

Bravo! Bravo! Try to get more than half of congress to agree with you. Best of luck. Maybe you should make sure to get vote to all of them that agree with you on this coming election.

If that was that easy, it could have done years ago right?, howcome we reached 15 trillion dollars debt?

because the politicians in the congress is dumb and don't know how to fix in bipartisanship, also they are last minute.

I think politicians eat too much Minute brand to make them feel like last minute.

Are you going to trust these dumb people on solving $15 trillion question?

Yup, I believe that SSDI is based on case to case basis, so not surprised about some healthily, non-disabled adults qualify for SSDI since disabled/illness adults got denied without seeking the lawyer.

There are really a lot of drug abusers live on SSI and I noticed a lot on real documentaries on TV, especially guy who is pothead and live in Modesto, so he receives SSI and booked to jail so often.

Bold - the law enforcement officers refused to charge the felony crime for one guy who is pothead and he has schizophrenia and possible additional disability, so they rather to charge as misdemeanor because law enforcement officers feel bad for him. If felony kicks in so he will lose the SSI benefit.

I only trust few politicians that are my good friend and strong supportive.

Many of them - not impressed at all.

I'm laughing so hard, only few? Few of em can't change, remember it takes majority to vote into law or repeal and you trust only minorities? They are not that winnable as you dream on.

Dream on. I'm laughing hard.

Is that causing $15 trillion debt?

No, you are wrong about my post and I only trust few elected politicians in the congress, but rest of others are hard to trust.

I don't understand why are you laughing and you just entitled your opinion.

New word for you

"REPEAL"

Repeal means reversal of law. Has it happen in history? You can bet your ass it had happened. Many laws were repealed in the past, congress has the power to repeal any laws even SS laws too. Supreme court can cause law to be repealed when they find law unconstitutional.
I ain't worrying about it but you can keep talking shit if you want to.
