Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Minister for Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Development Sitara Ayaz has directed the authorities concerned of her department to immediately initiate practical steps for reconstruction and upgradation of the Govt Girls Middle School for Deaf, Yakatoot.
According to handout issued here on Monday, the Provincial Minsiter issued these orders during her visit to the above school and School for the Blinds at GT Road, Peshawar. The Provincial Secretary for Social Welfare Sahibzada Fazal Amin, Director Social Welfare Sajjad Ahmad and other concerned officers were also present.
Sitara Ayaz while apprising herself of the difficulties and requirements of the Girls School for Deaf directed the authorities concerned on the spot to take all possible measures on priority basis that are required for improvement of the school. She appreciated the services being delivered by the school.
However, expressing concern over shortage of vocational teachers, computer operator and other professional and administrative staff, she assured to take immediate steps to make the staff available. She also directed to approach certain NGOs and foreign aid agencies to explore ways and means for reconstruction of the flood stricken and oldest building of the school.
Meanwhile, during her visit to the Govt. School for the Blinds, the provincial minister discussed with the staff and students various proposals to improve the standard and efficiency of the school. She also gave away uniforms to the female students on this occasion and urged the need to impart training to the blind students in modern trades.
Earlier, the Secretary Social Welfare Sahibzada Fazal Amin went round the under construction new building of the blinds school which was at its final stage of completion. During inspection, the Secretary identified certain defects in construction and material as well and asked the contractor to ensure removal thereof before proper handing over of the building to the department.
