ENVER (KDVR/CNN) - An American Sign Language speaking Santa Clause makes the setting special for children who are hearing impaired.

While technology is increasing the ability for deaf children to hear, Santa being able to sign allows the kids to feel a part of the Christmas spirit.

"So what do you want for Christmas," Santa signs to a deaf child at his side.

The skill to sign is unique to this Santa at the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver.

Children who are hard of hearing often prepare themselves when visiting Santa with written lists, cut out pictures of their Christmas desires.

It is a skill appreciated by parents who bring their hearing-impaired children to see this signing Santa.

"It's huge, it really is," said father Mike Bice. "We've done this for years, and I take off work every year, just for this occasion."
