Sierra College American Sign Language Club

The Sierra College American Sign Language Club (ASL) will hold an event designed to help the public learn more about our Deaf community. This is an opportunity to share information and educate the hearing public on various aspects of Deaf culture and Deaf services available in our area. The Celebration of Deaf Culture and Language will be held on Thursday March 29, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Dietrich Theatre on the Rocklin Campus, which is located at 5000 Rocklin Road in Rocklin, CA. The evening will begin with a silent auction with great items and services, and information tables from various Deaf organizations. Event discussions will include

* Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, SF-SPCA
* Hands on Video Relay Services (HOVRS)
* NorCal Center on Deafness Celebrating 30 Years
* Interpreting as a Career
* CSUS Deaf Studies Program

Master of ceremony will be Don Lee Hanaumi. Interpreters will be provided for the Deaf and Hearing.

Ticket price for this event is advanced ticket $1 or $2 at the door. Keep your ticket stub for a chance to win a door prize! All proceeds from ticket sales are donated to the Sierra College ASL Club. There is a $1 parking fee on campus. Parking permits are available at machines in various locations on the campus parking lot.
