Subject: Deaf on TV show in FALL

Shoshannah Stern:: Actress
She is deaf. She is an alumni at Calif School For the Deaf, Fremont.
Gallaudet University student has starring role in new ABC drama which begins
this fall.

Shoshannah Stern will be a member of the cast of ABC's "Threat Matrix,"
scheduled to air Thursdays at 8 p.m. this fall. The ABC website describes
the show like this: "Our nation is a target. Al-Qaeda and other deadly
enemies are determined to destroy our way of life. An attack could come at
any time, from anywhere around the globe. Against this rising threat, the
Homeland Security Agency
has created a highly specialized, elite task force trained and equipped to
counter anyone or anything that threatens our nation. The head of this
super-secret team is Special Agent John Kilmer. He reports only to the
President and has authority to call upon the technical skills, firepower,
and specialist agents of the FBI, CIA and NSA..."

The cast is listed as: Jamie Denton, Kelly Rutherford, Mahershalalhashbaz
Ali, Shoshannah Stern, Kurt Caceres, Melora Walters, Anthony Azizi, and Will
Lyman.

I knew ShoShannah Stern... She attended California School for the Deaf, Fremont.. And, yesterday I watched tv show Threat Matrix she in there.. I was like oh shit she bit look different.. I haven't seen her for like 4 or 5 year last time I saw her school play romeo and juliet... I knew that she is sucessful and now she is professional actress.. I'm proud of her.. :-D

I think it's great they have her on Threat Matrix,

I saw the premiere last night. Excellent show... but I do have some criticisms.....

How are her signs interpretted by that guy while he's sitting across the table from her and with her back towards him? And I sort of notice the timing of the signs to the spoken interpretions was a bit too fast, kinda like he was psychic or something.. heh

How can she really follow all the debriefings? No interpretation for her, and the guy in charge of the group was still talking about her duties after she already left to do it (Holly.. do this *she nods and gets up and leaves the table* do that do this do that...)

I just wish it was a little bit more realistic on her character roles in the show. Ya know what I mean?

I do have some criticisms too as well...

It's the acting. They talk so fast but they don't act.

Hope you get my drift on what I meant by that. The show itself has decent story-lines, but it's the acting that I don't really care for. Hope they'll be able to act soon.

Well actually shoshannah usually look at the modem of tv like computer like mostly actor do that you know... Actually, I'm sure they read words on modem on computer like while she sign sametime a guy voice for her that make a sense???

**Update** I finally saw the premire of 'Threat Matrix' last Monday -- it finally got shown here in Australia....it was a- OK. Not great, but....at least, it's a start.
I must agree with Sweet KJ about the interpreting part -- I noticed that, too. Just how could he know what she was saying whilst her back was to him???? :roll:

I also just found out that the series got cancelled last January. I guess the ratings weren't too good nor impressive enough to continue the season.

What are you on about? I read about it on the CBS site about it being put on the back burner because the show wasn't receiving enough ratings and viewers.
I wasn't guessing or hearing a rumour. :roll:
