Senate, House scheduled to vote on School for the Deaf deal Wednesday | MLive.com
State senators tomorrow could tie up an oversight that is keeping a deal to sell the state's Michigan School for the Deaf Campus in Flint. If enough show up, that is.
Lawmakers had hoped they approved the deal, and ended their session, Dec. 3. But the bill that would sell the property to a Flint developer missed a final vote in the Senate.
The governor can't sign the bill into law until that vote.
Rep. Lee Gonzales, D-Flint Twp., said both houses are scheduled for a session tomorrow to vote on this and about a dozen other bills with similar problems.
Gonzales has hopes the required 25 senators to pass the measure will show up.
"I'm very optimistic," Gonzales said.
