I am a senior in High School taking AP Research. AP Research is a College Board course within the AP Capstone program that emphasizes advanced research and inquiry skills. Students conduct a year-long independent research project, culminating in an academic paper and oral defense, fostering critical thinking and preparing them for college-level research.
I am conducting a research project on the deaf community, specifically focusing on late-deafened individuals and CODA individuals. My study aims to explore how neuroplasticity in late-deafened individuals impacts the assimilation of sign language and the retention of previous language skills.

- Late-deafened individuals between the ages of 25-45 who experienced late-onset deafness at ages 6-18 and are fully assimilating or have assimilated into American Sign Language.
- CODA individuals between the ages of 25-45 who have a deep understanding of ASL and a spoken language.
