Daughter implanted 2.5 years ago, we are COMPLETELY behind the eight ball and have lost a great deal of time. Daughter receives severe facial stim when mapped. 4 electrodes have been turned off and for the past month she has started facial twitching, rapid eyelid movement because of stim. The family is learning ASL (per audiologist/ent) as the CI device simply isn't working to capacity. CT Scan suggests nothing is wrong with the device. "MAY" be her anatomy. Facial stim occurred from day of operation. I have read about children receiving reimplantation with success. Currently in Central Florida. Will go to any hospital or facility in the country - desperate for my daughter to be given a chance before she loses the ability to learn language. PULLING HAIR OUT!
PLEASE, if you have had any experience with a child with a failed CI for ANY reason and have reimplanted please contact me.
