Scientists Create Synthetic Life in Lab

Yeah, was following this yesterday.

There can be lots of speculation for the usage of this in the benefit of mankind, but talking baby steps for a second here:

IMHO it's not as much of a "revolutionary breakthrough" as I would expect yet, because they still stripped and used DNA of other organisms. It's like taking a pre-installed windows computer, stripping the drive index and slapping Linux onto it.

Still, some progress is better than nothing.
