Safety for deaf Texans in hurricane emergencies to be focus of workshop

The Elgin Emergency Management Dept. is presenting an Emergency Notification System Announcement Workshop Saturday, Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. until noon at the Elgin Volunteer Fire Department, 111 N. Ave. C.

The free workshop will be offered in American Sign Language for the deaf and hard of hearing. Safety for deaf Texans during hurricane emergencies and safety procedures for the deaf and hard of hearing will be presented by guest speaker Nubia Armendariz.
Elgin City Inspector Jim Cazares has joined Armendariz in the effort to bring information to the deaf and hard of hearing individuals who reside in Elgin.
