Bear, I never talked with you and I just joined this week. I know you might not read this post but then again, you might will come back. I know how you feel. You worked hard on going to this trip. Were you part of a team to organize a deaf camp week or something like that? If you were, then why not you tell that person to bug off and YOU can handle this with out that sore loser who cancelled it on you.
Bear, I know how you feel. When I was a teenager, I tried to organize a roller skating party for my deaf classmates from our mainstreamed hearing high school. They never came. I felt they never really wanted me so you know what I did? I didnt hang with them after high school graduation. I didnt go to my high school reunions. Nothing! They are in my past. I moved on in many different ways ever since. I tried to make new deaf friends in NTID but that was another story. I said forget them. Then had deaf girlfriends and at least one HOH girlfriend throughout the 90s and early 2000s. I do not go to deaf events at all because they are the same losers I went to school with.
I am happy where I am today. I have deaf friends from Miami, Central America...they love me! Really nice people. There are other deaf people YOU can meet online here, Bear. Or offline in another town!
As for the skating party.. that rink is closed and missed skating. Oh well!
I also tried to have my bible study and no deaf people came. Only hearing people when my best friend was alive. He passed away due to cancer. He was popular but he helped me with my bible study.
Now I do not have one and I dont make too much of a fuss about people not coming.
Because people say they will come to my parties, they do not come and asked me to come to theirs? I dont come to theirs anyway. Just keep trying with NEW crowd of deaf people. There are people HERE that care about you, Bear. Just do not run away to an island. A figure of speech meaning just do not run away from problems. Face it.
I will pray for you, Bear.
Bear, I am happy with what I have now. Maybe some more new friends here I will make. Bear, you missed meeting someone new like me!! Or any future deaf members in here.

HoneyBaby mentioned of a few good points out of consideration...indeed it would be nice to be able to know that it's back on while there are others who would love to participate and attend.
