Russian news woman gives Obama the bird

YouTube video has been removed.

Did she do it on purpose? We all don't know for sure. No one will know but the bird flipper herself, Miss Limanova. There is a claim that she thought she was off-camera.

But sources close to it have tried to defuse the row by claiming that the newsreader had believed she was off camera at the time and merely providing a voice-over for a report. According to the same storyline, the rude gesture was intended for studio technicians who had been trying to put her off her stride

Could be but then again, displaying the middle finger in different countries can mean differently and not necessarily derogatory or insulting. She might be saying that Obama is #1. :lol:

I don't know, but I can tell you that a lot of countries resent the imperialistic behavior of the US as it interferes with the affairs of sovereign countries. Just wait and see what happens when countries start stopping accepting the US dollar and start demanding something tangible, like gold and silver in exchange for goods and services, how it used to be for centuries prior to 1913.

I'm not buying this, an article also says she's a decorated news person so I'm not sure it is accurate that what she did was intentionally for Obama. There has got to be more to this story. Even in Russia, something like this could cost someone their job and she's looking down when she's doing it.

I think we need to see how this plays out.
 
I was lucky to see the video three times yesterday before it was taken down. That was real, all right. The bird is probably the most universally-understood hand gesture in the world. Thanks to the media and internet. I was taught by my cousin who lived in Soviet Union at the time that a fig hand is also considered the bad gesture.

I suspect the news reporter didn't send the message against Obama. I read one of those reports that gesture was for studio technicians (behind the camera) who teased her.

I don't think it is worth the time to speculate whether or not she actually gave the bird to Obama unless she steps forward and tell the public what happened.
