Running an older CD/DVD on Windows Vista

I have Windows Vista on my desktop computer. The computer also has a CD/DVD drive.

I have quite a few CD's and DVD's for computer that I used with my XP. They won't run on my Vista. It says something about my system being a 64-bit system.

Is there anything I can do? Mainly I want to be able to run my ASL Instant Immersion v2.0. There are 5 different disks to this package.
 
Hmm.. that Instant Immersion ASL v2.0 does not say support Window Vista.

Windows Vista won't support it.

Looks like you have downgrade to Windows XP or wait for new version of ASL Instant Immersion v2.0

the program is not compatible with your Vista

i guess ASL Instant Immersion v2.0 isn't one of "some programs" :dunno:
 
I did run Windows Compatibility mode and it did not help. The program will not run at all. I will just have to suck up the money already spent on this program and wait for a newer one I guess. Windows can be a MAJOR piece of crap at times.

Ouch, consider to run Win XP in virtual desktop if see any help.

How do you do that? and, Is it worth the trouble? I know I really like this ASL set, but not to really trouble myself this much.

If you have Win XP CD so you can install in Virtual Box.
VirtualBox

or if you have 2nd HDD or create a partition in 1st HDD so install XP on your PC.

Don't have a WIN XP CD, and don't know about a 2nd HDD. What is it? Also, I don't know anything about partitions. I'm clueless.
 
Upgrade to Win 7 Pro or Ultimate (also Home Premium, but not included by default), then download "XP Mode" from MS.

Virtual PC at its best.

If you don't want to pay for Win 7, there is a separate download of Virtual PC 2007 then try your best to get XP Mode. You can, of course, ask a friend who have Win 7 to transfer the virtual hard disk containing XP to use on V-PC 2007 *on* Vista.
 
Don't have the money to upgrade to Win 7 and the rest sounds like too much work. I will donate the CD's to someone who wants them and wait to find something else. They are just the best ASL learning programs I have found yet.

Besides, I have no friends close enough that would do that for me. I am too much of a homebody and don't socialize due to my deafness and communication problems.
