Rexton Bridge hearing aids

Does anyone here use the Rexton Bridge hearing aids, with or without the remote control?

I've been trialing the Oticon Chilis and while they are better in some respects than my Phonaks, they are not $4000 - $5000 better, so I won't be buying them. I was in a different audi's office this morning (getting the little wind protector dealies changed on the Phonaks), and she carries Rexton and said a lot of her clients like them.

Any experience out there?

How interesting. I wasn't even aware Rexton was "back". They changed their name to something else a few years back. I'm all confused !! :lol:

Anyway, I have a Rexton ANALOG. While it's not digital, obviously, I do like it very much for an analog aid. So I can only hope that means the digital ones would be good/better.
 
What is your degree of loss? (Feel free to PM me if you don't want to be public with that.)

Siemens now owns Rexton - maybe that's fairly recent? I don't know. I only heard of Rexton because someone here on AD mentioned the brand in passing a while ago. Other than that, none of the audis I've seen in the past ever mentioned them.
 
That could've been me who mentioned it. I was talking about it in the Starkey thread. My left ear uses a Starkey DaVinci digital, my right ear uses a Rexton analog.

I have a 115 db loss. I don't mind sharing that at all :) (I was 85 db when diagnosed at 15 months, progressed to 115 by the time I was about 20.) The last 20 years have remained the same.
 
maybe you could try the Siemens or any other brand!
I'm the only kid on AD who had grown up with Siemens as a child up to 4th grade when I got my 1st digital hearing aid (the one that is crap now)
 
OK, thanks. My loss isn't quite to those levels, more in the 90 - 100 sort of range in the high frequencies, less than that in the low frequencies.

This audi did not have demo models, which would be useful.

Then yours is significantly better than mine. Mine is at 115 in the high frequencies, about 105-110 in the lower frequencies. So if mine seem to work well, I would hope it'd be the same for you.

Is she/he going to get you a demo model to trial?
 
I wonder if your audi can loan you to test the HA to see if you like it or not. I haven't go to the audi for a LONG while. I really like to go back soon and ask to see if they can loan me to test a few of HA which i like the best. right now i have Oticon sumo dm. Its OK. I had phonaks and phillip before but i dont remember because i was in college. I took it off for 7 yrs and i forget how did zeith, phonaks and phillip feels like. oh well

have you done with demo model to trail? like loan you a HA?
 
well I hope you have better luck finding the hearing aid you love now LOL

No, I wasn't doing any demos or trials. My responses were to Beach Girl. I think she is testing out new HAs. I'm fine with what I have -- mine are still too new for me to want to change (and spend the $$ !! just yet. :) )
 
I dunno.

Right now, I am still wearing the demos of the Oticon Chilis. They are ok, better than the Phonaks in some respects, but oddly, much, MUCH worse when it comes to listening to live music. Horrible. That's a big issue for me, so I'm not going to buy them.

The audi that demo'd the Oticons however does not carry Phonaks. This other one, call her "Audi B", can handle minor issues with the Phonaks, like replacing the foam doo-dads over the microphone.

However - she didn't actually have the right size in stock (sigh...) so she is ordering a bunch for me. She did sort of a make-do, cut-to-fit out of what she had.

So next week (more or less) I'll go back to her when she gets the right supply in.

She just gave me the brochure for the Rextons, and when asked, said that she did not have any demos.

I said I would not order any expensive aids without demo-ing first, and she said "sure, that's understandable" but did not go any further in the conversation about it.

I thought I'd research it a bit more, starting right here. I wouldn't mind paying a small amount for the service to do a trial of them, but not much more than $100 or so.
 
Can you check out yet another audi who might have them?
 
In the fall, maybe, when we move back into "winter headquarters."

We don't have many choices of health care providers in general here at our summer home, not within a reasonable driving distance.

What there is seems adequate though.
 
That's what I thought. And why I was confused about the health care providers. How are they helping you? (not being sarcastic or anything, just totally confused. I don't have anything to do with health care providers when it comes to HAs. Unless you meant audi's?)
 
since you love Phonaks, try the new Naida S (S as in Spice Chip) and the new models they have here!
 
haven't heard much about the rextons, but as safari girl said, the phonak naida s ups i do have. your high frequency is about like mine, though mine is almost straight across the board, the naidas could be good for you. i'm hearing alot more... but not quite understanding it... but i was also unaided for over a year and have never really had great speech discrimination. all the sounds are new to me... i have realized i can listen to music now though... which is pretty cool :) you can have a music mode programed into the Naidias (the more expensive ones automatically switch to it when they detect music playing but no speech)

I just meant we don't have a lot of health care providers of any sort, including audiologists, down here. So if the one I saw today does not have demo HAs of the brands I'm interested in, there isn't going to be anyone else anyplace nearby. It's not like I have a lot of choice, basically, was my point.

There's one big hospital, a cancer care place, an emergency care place (they deal a lot with "beach emergencies" like "swimmer's ear," bad sunburns, caught finger with a fish hook, etc.), two audiologists (one of which, the "Audi B" that I saw today, is only part-time, and the other one splits his time between here and another city about 40 miles away), a handful of other specialists.

In the winter we live just outside D.C., and there would be quite a few choices of people I could see, including a long list of audis, and of course a long list of hospitals, doctors, whatever other health care one might need.

Actually when you asked if the HAs "were covered" by "health care providers", I thought you meant "health insurance," which unfortunately, is not paying for HAs. Health insurance would pay for the hearing exam, but not for the aids.
