Ok, I finally got a new copy of my last hearing test, I don't understand how to read it , If anyone can explain to me what the marks mean at what levels on the graph please. I will be going for a new test soon due to my hearing has gotten worst to get new HA and I want to know what to look for in the changes from High to low frequencies, Also what the other precentages means. Thanks everyone.

Im just trying to figure out what the marks mean( high/low frequencies ) where they are starting/cutting off at in the range. Without aids I cant hear anything unless really loud.

If you had an audiologist do the test, he/she should be able to explain the results.

Just by looking at your chart, it appears that you have quite a bit of loss, gets worse as the frequencies are higher, your left ear is worse.

For more details, google 'how do i read hearing test results', many sites have graphs.

He did explain it but was 2 years ago and I forgot everything ,,, I will try to google it

Ok, google helped some. I see I am profound for sure (80+db) wow all the way up to 110 and they just stopped....explains why I cant hear anything,,,lol Im sure this next test is worst, haven't been tested in 2 years.

They're a pain to read...I'm dreading my next test when I have to upgrade my hearing aids. I hope nothing else drops off the chart....

Also the shaded area is what's called the speech banana. Where we can hear speech best.

It's a ski slope loss, you're in the severe range until 1K htz in one ear and 2K htz in the other, then it dips into profound. They'd probably call it Severe Loss sloping to Profound....or something like that. They'll probably want to fit you with an aid with sound recover, well that's what they call it for Phonaks, different brands do the same thing but call it something else.

And just out of curiosity why do you post threads about your hearing and hearing aids in the General Chat section instead of the hearing aids/CI one? Not that it matters, I guess maybe I'm a little OCD. nah not really

I am requesting to try Widex and Phonak this time around, been doing my research with the help of all the wonderful people and advice here.

Good question... I guess I didn't pay attention what section I was in when I posted this, and actually should have posted it in my other Thread that this was mentioned in,,, I believe I was tired after working on the house or it was late when I posted? Mods are free to move this if needs be. Thanks.

what ambrosia said, my type of loss is ski slope too and sometimes it can looks like it's going backwards due to the fluctuation of my hearing which now happens every year *I know, weird.)

Mine just gets worst, I could hear somewhat before without HAs and now I cant hear anything unless someone is yelling at me, and then I still dont hear everything. I really do hope whatever new HAs i get will work, Im going to ask about CI as my last audiologist recommended I do whenever I go for new ones from my last visit 2 years ago. I am wondering if going to the Audiologist at the hospital is going to be better than going back to my old Audiologist? I am kind of torn between going back to him or going someplace new as he fitted me with HAs that werent really for my range of hearing loss ( claiming they were the Top of the Line ) and turned out to be a TURD from day one, constantly needing repairs or replacement till the warranty ran out then it was SOL !
