Quota Camp for Deaf Children - KPTH FOX 44: Local News and Entertainment for Sioux City and Siouxland |

The dog days of summer are here and so is the Quota Camp for deaf children.

Eight campers stayed overnight at the Goodwill Camp in South Sioux City and then spent the day doing crafts, eating lunch, and swimming. The camp gives deaf children a chance to spend time with kids just like them: from those who are totally deaf and use sign language to those who wear cochlear implants and can verbally speak.

"I think that everyone is kind of different so think of giving everyone a chance a little bit to talk to each other. Yeah, it's okay to be different," says camper Sam Holzrichter.

Quota International of Sioux City sponsors each of the campers. Quota works with deaf children and disadvantaged women in Siouxland.
