Questions about ASL

Ok so I have recently become HOH. I'm getting used to new hearing aids and am currently in the mild to moderate hearing loss range. My loss is progressive. I have been getting suggestions that I begin to learn ASL in preparation for when I may loose my hearing completely. In the past few weeks I have had a relatively significant drop in my hearing so I am starting to consider this suggestion. Does any one have suggestions in NY for a place to to for ASL classses? Is a college the best place to start. I don't want to be gloom and doom. I don't know if I will ever become completely deaf but it has been suggested that it is better to be prepared. I was not prepared for this so I a trying to be proactive.
