Question about VP-200

Hey! I heard that I can use my phone number under my friend's VP is that true? for example if I went over my friend house and I change my friend account to mine account. By Password and username something like that. Can I do that?
 
On VP-200 no it is NOT true, and it is against our recommendation for several reasons. I found out this morning. Reason? They (vp-200) were designed NOT to be portable, and it can be break easily if move around too much. VP-200 is very sensitive with connection to Sorenson's Server.

As for VP-100, it does not care if you move or not. And you can change phone number as many times as you want, but can't on VP-200. If you want change phone number on VP-200, then you need to call Sorenson Tech SUpport center and they will be happy to assist you.

Excuse for quite off-pointing here, but I asked a Soreson rep recently about the vp-200s as when would they be avialable for the current vp-100 users to receive it and exchange for it. She said it would be around 2 to 4 years because they only issue 100 a month while there are thousands out there to replace it with.

Oh, my gosh that sure takes so loong! So what do you think?

did you type in your zip code to find out if available in your area but the person you asked is correct that it is what it will take to complete the upgrade while rolling out to new users. Sorenson VRS

he mean he go over to his friend who already have vp and change the phone number in general setting to his then reboot then get his own contact list on his friend's vp. he don't mean taking his vp over to his friend eh. :D

by the way, VP200 is portable just like VP100 I am skeptical of what you said. I can say that I haven't tried it. but I have change my phone number on my own vp100 (same mac hardware address) and it take a while to take effect. So for VP200 I haven't tried yet and don't intend to do it at all.
 
I am not sure, if I want to get one, because I sometimes forgot to block the video to prevent viewers from seein' what I am doin' around this house. :Ohno:

I heard one person mentioned about someone else who saw everythin' about couple makin' out in bedroom. :ugh:

Yea, just enable video privacy and audio privacy, or you can simply cover the len.

Thanks for clarification, I was so tired last night from long day. My mistake this part. No, can not change phone number on VP-200. Need to contact Sorenson Tech support office in order to change Phone number.

I got this information about vp-200 portable though Sorenson Tech support crew. They already told me it is not recommended. Feel free call em, and they will explain to you.

The real reason behind this with phone number not able to change easily on your own with VP-200 is because of past abuses with prank calls, and other calls that is made anonymously. Sorenson have decided to stop this, Sorenson got no way to trace any calls, SorensonVRS respects your privacy therefore they don't record any calls, period. That is the problem when it comes to prank calls. You still can change easily on VP-100, however Sorenson really don't like this at all, so is victims of prank callers.

Don't set it to answer automatically, and turn on video privacy. Problem solved.

Oh no I always leave my VP on all day! I am on my bed and tv there right in front of me. I doubt someone would see me? How possibly!?!?!? I guess I am going to turn privacy on.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind otherwise, like DHB65 said to cover the len. I will probably order one. Can I ask not to give anyone out my IP address for privacy reason ? Please, pardon me since this is new to me and I may ask silly questions. :Oops: How about askin' for a website of my own so others will not be able to access my IP address, if they found out what my IP address is ? I had one friend who mentioned about this to me the other day - and said, that I could get my own website but, have to pay for it per month to use for VP, if I ask for " non-IP " - anyone knew about this ?
 
My advise is not to take out your IP address to just about anybody if you want to keep yourself private. Once you give out, there is almost NO way we can change that. However, most ISP uses DHCP, and one way to change IP address is to shut down and wait for long long long time, like a month, then maybe they'd reassign you with new IP address. It all depends on IP lease time that your ISP offers. Some just 24 hours, while other is longer.

Yes. No-IP - Dynamic DNS, Static DNS for Your Dynamic IP You can set up a no-ip account (free) and run it on your pc to keep ip updated. You get an address like "CyberRed@No-IP.org" that you can give out instead of your IP address. People can dial VP and select IP address, and then put in "CyberRed@No-IP.org" and then it will dial your VP. You let the little no-ip program run on your PC once in a while to keep your IP up to date so that the addresses will keep working.

There are other sites like no-ip.con, but I can't remember what they are right now.

Yes, That what I mean! Can I do that? Should I call Sorenson Support and ask them?

That is not true, Anybody else support his claim? I mean any of you VP-200 user have successfully changed your phone number?

As for VP-100, you can change number anytime, but because of past abuses, Sorenson decided to disable this feature and lock the phone number, only Tech support guys can change the phone number. Gotta to call them and request change.

Care explain to us why you change your vp200 phone number so many times?

Of course I have changed my VP number on my VP100,and that is very rare! (twice in 3 years).
