Hey Guys,

I'm working on build a new HTPC (Home Theatre PC).. So, the reason why I'm asking about TV Tuner card cuz I have seen several TV Tuner cards will not work with CC such as Hauppauge PVR-150 and some of Avermedia.. Some Avermedia works while you are watching TV with CC.. But the problem is.. while watching TV and would like to record, all of a sudden CC went disappeared.. Also, whenever I saved from record... And it did play but no CC.. Only will showing in "live" TV with CC.. wtf..? :thumbd:

I want to know what kind of TV Tuner card will work with CC even record and play from record and also, press pause and run for bathroom or whatever... and come back and play.. always showing CC..? So, please could y'all post what kind of TV Tuner cards will work..?

Thanks!!
Kurt

i think you should get Hauppauge PVR250 or PVR350 because pvr150 isnt working with cc after you record. i found some informations about pvr150's problem with CC.

personally i havent tried to see how it works CC after recording the tv programs cuz i have tivo. :dunno: i will start to do the experiments on these stuffs sometimes this coming feb or march. as far as i know, i refuse to get any hauppage pvrX50 because i heard alot of troubles with hauppauge tv tuner cards. i havent tried ATI wonder pro which has built in CC.

if you plan to built HTPC for HDTV, i suggest ya to try a DVICO FusionHDTV5 Gold Plus which has built in CC. it does accept an analog tv if you dont have HDTV.

Thanks for your advice.. Well, I haven't thought about getting HDTV.. It's too early for me to get.. Since there are not much on HDTV around the states until 2007.. As long as it will work for Analog TV, that's cool. One of my friend who has ATI AIW (ATI All in Wonder XT850?) It does work with CC and everything but it's so damn expensive!! But still don't want to have TV Tuner built in video card cuz I heard it causes a bit too hot and sometimes stuttering while watching or something..?? :dunno:

I'm thinking about having HTPC case is like Shuttle XPC.. Have heard of it??

Thanks!
Kurt

yes ati is very good with tv tuner cards. i am impressed with ati because it does consider what deaf people need for tv and pc. i have one card but i dont have tv tuner card yet but i have viewsonic nextvision N5. it works fine with my monitor and projector. I plan to get ATI tv tuner card for my another future HDTV, but not sure because i am interested in DVICO fusionhdtv tuner card because ppl say positive comments about that card. so hopefully it will be GREAT for my needs.

shuttle xpc... it is very nice. i saw that in cnet.com last week. i am interested in Ahanix HTPC cases cuz i think they are so sexy. ;) but i really love this pix of Uneed X15e HTPC Case , but $$$$$$

It's best CC for MCE. How odd some customer complain about problem with install. Well Just don't install from CD due out of date and download from ati.com

Hey Neo,

Thanks for telling me about that.. Will it work like pause, rewind, record, etc...?

Thanks,
Kurt

dang it... i tried to give u a link to that website that states that these come with CC but not...

that hdtv tuner card is for austraila and Europe that work with CC, but not USA. It says it is working on it right now. we do have fusionhdtv tuner card here but not work with CC. GRRRR ! i think i wont be able to get that this coming spring. i guess i stay with ATI cards for my next HDTV.

about that tiny ahanix case. i m not sure about how much slots its mobo can holds. i wud like to have at least 4 slots for tv card, video card, network card and sound card. i prefer having video card with 128 mb or more.

Serious? Oh man, looks like we can't use DVICO.. I guess we are stuck what Neo just recommended recently.. It's ATI TV Wonder Elite...

Hello. The ATI-branded cards seem to provide CC functions in their TV tuner card offerings. That's nice, but keep in mind that they are software-only cards, meaning the computer has to do the work in displaying the TV output stream. I'm waiting for ATI to release an All-In-Wonder card with the Theater 550 chipset. This is a hardware solution for TV tuner usage. And CC support should be built-in, too.

My experience pretty much echoes that of the original poster; I tried Avermedia TV tuner cards only to find out they do not show CC in recording mode or even in playing back recorded programs. I also tried the Hauppauge PVR-150 cards, but the CC didn't work either. Some research suggests that the PVR-150 card will display CC functions only under Windows MCE2005 editions.

Hey Eyeth, are you really serious about that..?? I did try on my PVR-150 on MCE 2005.. The whole thing was like frozen.. Wouldn't let me watch TV or anything else... :-( I guess I'll give it try later tonight whenever I'm ready to remove Windows Vista.. :D

Thanks,
Kurt

yes it works fine after it records the tv programs... however, if you try to transfer the file from tivo to pc with its own program, tivotogo. u wont see CC if you burn it to DVD ! they said they are working :gives: , but i doubt it because i have not heard no news from tivo since feb 2005.
