Question about buy a car

Why I need rev so high most time they run out torque at high rpm.

How come V6 better than Inline 4? What about Inline 6 it bad?

500,000 miles on that honda is nothing.

Hey, you might consider if you got great credit, and can get auto loan... you may want check with Chrysler's insane deals that is going on right now. Many of dealers must unload their brand new cars BY June 9th! This is causing Dealer going crazy and need find way to get rid of them before they gone out of business.

Since Chrysler filed bankruptcy, they can not buy back cars from dealer and no longer has Chrysler financial for any credit needs. So, dealer has no choice but offer you insane and deep discounts on brand new vehicles... Check em out.

Well, one of my friend has a '97 Ford Escort and has 113k miles and already has a lot of problems. He's the orginal owner. It is leaking oil from the oil pan gasket and runs kinda rough. I think he doesn't drive much on the freeways or something, I dunno.

That is if this driver drives around the city all the time, this is pretty much expected. Cars don't live long if drive in the city all life. If this car has never seen city street and always seen highway, I bet you fat chance that it can hit 300k miles easily.

It is all about wear n tear.

Yeah, I think he mostly drive locally not 20 miles a day. He's on SSI and has no job, so it's not surprising.

Yep, I am very luck that I was heavy drive around at Chicago like 100 miles per day due two jobs and still alive so far! Whew!

Maybe he dont change oil so often or something.

vehicles that runs on highway gets almost none of wear even though it appears to be. The only thing that wears while on the highway is just tires itself. In fact for every 10 miles on highway equals one mile on the city street.

I would buy car that has over 100K highway miles than those with city miles!

You should know that since you are "mechanic" person.

Few cylinders = high rpm and low torque and More cylinders = low rpms and high torque.

Low rpms and high torque is great for long life.

Remember E-250 V8 is slower than Accord V6.

Don't forget about lot of uphill. Lot of uphill cause transmission become overheat quick and short life.

Well, Chrysler filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy due need reorganization with other companies, such as Fiat and they will try to emerge from bankruptcy after reorganization has complete, however the name for Chrysler will be still same for North America market and most car model will remain same, also some dealers will cut off.

Depends on the payload and being hitched to a trailer, that puts lots of stress on the transmission. :)

True if driver turn off Overdrive. We alway do when we tow trailer if there hill but for flat we turn Overdrive.

Have you see F250 superduty's transmission cooling? That reason why transmission last long by have HUGE cooling on front of radiator.

It seems like rare for Japanese cars to have serious problem, such as model recall or something like you mention about crankshaft, it would be more worse for American cars because they have issued recall on some car model, especially GM.

How much cost to replace the crankshaft? If engine in Civic died then could be replace into new engine? I'm just wonders.

Is it true about most American cars are last longer at closer as Japanese car if made in after 1998?
Japanese cars have a lot of plms like American cars. No surprises. The automobiles on the roads in anywhere, are no perfect. Of course the Big Three Makers, still have a numberous of recalls on the vehicles same as Japanese makers.
Cost to replace a Honda crankshaft? Expensive. Want a new engine? Tow to the dealer. Not worthy. To replace a crankshaft in a Honda block are not popular, cuz of vast labor time. The mechanics at the shops, can do head
replacements. As today I see many mechanics are not wanting to replace a crankshaft in the block, usually installs an used salvaged engine. Its fast fix and easy money.

That's why Japanese used engines are dirt cheap (imported into the US market) with avg of less than 40,000 miles on it because Japan replace their engines every 3 years due to very strict emission system.

I learned from my interpreter who soldier and no one want to rebuild the diesel engine for Humvee, just replace the diesel engine quick. I don't know that all soldier humvee are 24volts of battery.

Army truck have 2 battery which is 12 volts. They help start easy and power all stuff like radios or light.

Most time they gave up and sell on government auction. Like they didn't finish half apart.

How come Honda need 9 timing belts? Ford van doesn't replace timing chains. I rather find cars that don't have timing belt because I don't like replace at 60,000 to 100,000 miles.

Are you really sure about that? I'm sure he replaced the timing chain too. No timing belt/chain lasts forever. Timing chain lasts slightly longer than the timing belt counterparts, I think.
