Event Info: This is a 32 person duel tournament for the deaf and hard of hearing gaming community. Priority will be given to these entrants. The competition is open to all competing players however sound will be disabled on all machines to make an even playing field. We may allow players also entered in the pro duel tourney but this will be determined at the event.

Test your might and show up for a good cause. SilentGamers.org run by Rob aka Ackshun's main goal is to bring attention to gamers with hearing impairments and showcase their talent. Please visit our website for more details.

Tourney Organizers: gnnr (silentgamers tourney admin) ackshun aka rob (former quakecon attendee and tourney veteran. Although he will not be there he was the inspiration for this tourney.

Quakecon BYOC staff members jess and caligirl have graciously volunteered to admin this event. Thanks for the support.

Rules: 32 person single elimination duel tournament. Rounds will be held in 10 minute lengths. Sound will be disabled on all machines. Good sportsmanlike conduct will be expected by all players and absolutely no discriminatory comments will be tolerated by quakecon staff. Seeding will be done at random with a draw. If we decide before the tourney to do manual seeding we will let the participants know.

Map List: because not all players have the premium package we will stick with a classic map set.
dm6, tourney7, ztn1, dm13, tourney9

Maps will be picked in this fashion. Higher seed pick 1st lower pick 2nd higher toss lower toss the remaining map is used as the tie breaker.

Games will be best of 3, except the 3rd place and 1st/2nd place matches will be best of 5.

Prizes: there are no prizes available at the moment. However I expect something special for the winners and possibly the participants so hope for a surprise :P.

Registration: go to the quakecon info desk and ask for the byoc tourney area. The byoc tourney admins will be helping admin this tournament and can sign you up for the tournament.

Schedule: the tournament is planned for 8pm Friday night *subject to change. Stay tuned for updates though as this may change based on the planning of other events.

Start is at 7pm tomorrow night

Get going! It is opened now and ready for you to come play there

I just got home from QuakeCon today, 6 hours drive. I scored tons of free shit, including 7 shirts and two hats and a laptop backpack and posters and a lot of awesome shit. And omg, the computers. People are so fucking creative with their computers. I saw one made out of a huge 1920s style floor radio. There was also one guy who used his huge TV as a computer monitor, it was like 40 or 50 inches. I'm planning on going back next year!

Dang it I forgot about this..... I was going. It's only 15 minutes from my house

 Jiro is my bud

Pretty obvious, buds do get in battle too.

In next time, just add QuakeCon event to your iPhone calendar and they will remind you as event start soon.

:slap: That's for forgetting! We need more deaf people to come! This year it was just me, my fiance, and our friend!

Well I should have.....but I was planning on still being in Portland so I didn't think I could go. But my mom had surgery Thursday (minor no biggie) so I came home early and was here. Next year I will plan around it and make sure to be there.

Next time if it's in an area within my proximity.. I'll go there and PWN you quakers. :D

<- one of the oldies that started netquake 1 in 1995/1996. Good old days of dialup modem.

Next year we can make plans for all of us to meet at Quakecon.

It's always in Dallas or the Dallas area/suburbs every single time. We never have it in anyplace else, not even out of state. The top people that are in charge of QuakeCon makes the decisions as to which hotel and which location depending on the expected size expected in BYOC. We were expecting 7000+ people this year in BYOC.
