I recently had updated ICS(Ice Cream Sandwich) on my phone. After that, I had tested Purple VRS and unfortunely, it is not working on ICS except Gingerbread. I know that Gingerbread os still work on Purple VRS. Also, I had tested Z4 on ICS and is working finally. it is strange thing.

I believe they at Purple Communication will work on new update for ICS. Did you ever try both Purple VRS and Z4 on your phone?

Please don't discuss about iPhone here okay.

No.. I noticed that Purple and ZVRS have codes from Mirial SDK. ZVRS decided to change the SDK to make it better what Mirial had. While Purple and Convo using same what Mirial's SDK.

I have little good news about Purple VRS on ICS. I found way that I pressed phone icon on home screen then dial any phone numbers I would like. after dialed any phone numbers, it went through moblie Purple VRS and Guess what? it is working now ! I am happy about this. It is very strange.

I am patient to wait on the development team at Purple will work on ICS on these android phones.

I tried using zvrs, purple on my andriod gingerbread. hate it since zvrs recent update overides my vco usage when using a laptop version of VRS calling. purple did same thing but has annoying popup to use purple or voice option. I want a simpler way of using it so I uninstalled both for now.

which android are you using? I have conquer. I dont have ICS yet installed and I dont know If I want to use the jailbroken version or wait for sprint?

I am using HTC Vivid from AT&T. Did you have talked to tech support at Purple and ZVRS yet? Y

snallga, have you tried getting a logcat of your problems? You need to install android SDK (Android SDK | Android Developers) and then run logcat. You also need to turn on debugging tools in Settings > Developer > Enable Debugging (something like this). You also need to connect the USB cable from the phone to your computer.

if you are on windows/linux/mac, you just use the shell/command prompt and run:
adb logcat
or
adb logcat > filename.txt (this saves your complete output to filename.txt)

It will generate an output that looks something like this:
image.axd

Run the VRS app again, then try to do everything you are having problems with, then exit and you can stop the logcat.

With this output, you can email it to Purple/Z4 development team and they will know what is wrong with their app.

It's actually not ICS' problem, it's the apps from GB are not all updated for ICS properly which is why there's a lot of problems going on.

What android phone do you use?
Rooting may or might not solve the issue depending on what the problem really is and what phone you use. For some androids on ICS we developers use legacy settings, which does not mean it will work perfectly.

If it's the kernel or OS/ROM problem, it may be solved. But if it's an app problem that's the fault of the VRS company.

I installed Eclipse SDK for android phone on my laptop. I ran PurpleVRS and Z4 app on the logcat. I already emailed both files to them. Interesting about what cause on both PurpleVRS and Z4.

Great job. I hope it helps them figure out their problems soon.
