Headsets | Purple Unveils New Version of P3 Communications Application

Purple Communications, Inc., a provider of text and video relay and on-site interpreting services, has reportedly revealed a new version of P3, the company’s software communication suite specifically tailored to meet the needs of people who are deaf or who have hearing loss. The company also clarified that with this announcement, users can download the latest version of P3 software for free by visiting the company’s Web site.

“Today Purple Communications (News - Alert) is focused on designing products that fully meet the needs of our customers,” said Ronald E. Obray, vice chairman.

“Our P3 application is a prime example of a product built 100 percent on feedback we received from the deaf and hard of hearing community,” added Obray.

P3 software includes key communication capabilities like video relay service, IP-relay, and direct video/point-to-point communication. As stated, the latest version of the P3 communication software has additional three primary features, that includes; Purple Mail, new on-screen and external call notification options, and a completely redesigned contact list. Added to this, it also includes dozens of other updates that is said to focus on the improvement of picture quality, performance, and stability.

Mentioning about Purple Mail, the company official said that when a P3 software user misses a call, callers can now leave a video message called Purple Mail, where users can view Purple Mail messages with just a few clicks, right inside the P3 application.

The new Call Notification Options is a feature where users are notified when there is an incoming call, even when the users are not actively using the P3 application. When a call comes in, the P3 software alerts users by flashing their PC screen. Also, for a stronger alert, users can attach an external light signaler, which is said to flash when there is an incoming call.

With improved contact list facility, users can now add and update contact entries in their contact list, and also still benefit from the P3’s software’s special, one-click calling. Other enhancements as stated, is focused on expanding users’ experience.

P3 software requires a PC with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 and a Webcam. Existing users of P3 software are eligible to receive the free update automatically when they next sign in to the P3 application, company officials said.
