Rock climbling with no safety ropes are either called "extreme climbing" or "freestyle climbing".

Oh my goodness........that looked dangerous without having on a safety harness and a rope. Hope this video will not influence DeafClimber to do the same :)
 
I can bet it is fake! There is no way that anyone who would do this at the rate of speed. It looks lmore like crawling rather than climbing. If you look at between 0:59 and 1:03, you will see that he is not really climbing and the way he placed his hand, there is no way he can stay on slope than on level.
 
smile... that was old video... yea, Dan Osman was famous in our climbing community. that happened in few yrs ago. he died from falling off the cliff in 1998 by failing on attempting the free fall with bunge rope which was too long.

as you see the video, that type of rock climbing is called Free Solo Climbing. i would never do that myself. i can climb without my equipments up to maybe 40 ft. that is high enuf for me. *kissing my hands and feet* those solo climbers still do up to 3000 ft like that. i know some climbers died from falling. how sad it is but i respect those solo climbers.

no it was not fake dude. :) it went 4 min 25 seconds...

5.7 is too easy for advanced climbers. they can climb without hands. in my climbing cumminuty everyone knew him very well and Dan was famous in rock climbing world...

we do speed climbing like what he did. i know some ppl do in speed climbing competitions.

sometimes we play for fun like racing with our time. some ppl play with blindfolds. some ppl climb without climbing shoes(painful !) some ppl try climbing without hands. there are some various types of ways to do climbing for fun.

well it depends how it happens. like rock falling onto climbers.... human errors... lightening strikes the climbers out.

Wow, I could barely stand to watch that. I thought for sure at times he was going to fall. That's sad that he died how he did. Some people live to be too extreme.
