PS3 is coming soon

The premium Xbox360 includes HD-AV cables while the premium PS3 dont include HD-AV cables so pathetically, you have to buy the HD-AV cables seperately if you wanna explore gaming in HD mode.

Sony's supposed to be all about HD with the PS3, arent' they? It's causing quite a stink at how they are packaging the PS3 with component cables and not with HDMI cables.
HDMI PS3 cables from $30 to $100? Which would be best? Monster has quite the reputation for audio and video cables.

Component cables will not included with PS3 because gamers can get different cable to hook up, such as HDMI, VGA, component cable and composite cable but not sure about composite cable will support with BD.

We already got HDMI cable included with new HDTV in last few month ago.

PS3's having backwards compatiablity problems.

PS3 backward compatibility marred
Sony's PlayStation 3 is encountering problems playing approximately 200 PlayStation, PlayStation 2 games; software updates expected.

When Microsoft's Xbox 360 was released almost a year ago, one of the knocks on the system was that it wasn't fully backward compatible with original Xbox games. The 360, which uses a different CPU and GPU from the original Xbox, can play some Xbox games through software emulation. However, the emulation has so far only been applied to a few hundred titles.

Sony, too, had planned to go the backward-compatibility route. To avoid the emulation pitfalls encountered by Microsoft, the company put PlayStation and PlayStation 2 hardware inside the PlayStation 3. However, it appears that even this approach to backward compatibility is having its problems.

On its Japanese Web site, the electronics giant has said that some issues are arising when attempting to run certain PlayStation and PS2 games on the PS3, according to Bloomberg. Sony has not stated how many games are being affected, but Reuters claims approximately 200 games in the PS and PS2 catalog have some issues.

A Sony spokesperson told GameSpot, "We are aware that a select number of titles have compatibility issues but these problems will be fixed with a software upgrade that will be available in the near future."

A Web site has been set up for Japanese users to see which games have compatibility issues and which may not work due to other problems. Titles with problems include Final Fantasy XI, Silent Hill 2, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, and Tekken 5.

The console was released in Japan on November 11 and promptly sold out. Sony will have approximately 400,000 PS3s available for the system's North American launch this Friday, and the company expects the backward-compatibility issue to also affect those units.

I saw 2 tents outside Circuit City this morning when I went to work. Circuit City is opening 8am friday for the PS3 launch. Am not too sure I will be able to take a break and get in line to get a PS3 on friday. We'll see how it looks friday morning.

Someone posted about waiting out for one on launch day and then puting it one ebay...That's what I was gonna do.
Does anyone think that it would sell for a decent profit if I got one and then put it on ebay in December with free shipping. If I could get 1200.00 for spending 600.00 I would do it...but I'm not sure if the demand will wear off once the unit is launched..and what about problems playing old games that I'm hearing about...I would not want to get stuck with it. Is this just a bad idea?

I don't see why not. Get it and put it on eBay and start the auction at $1200. $1200 to some people out there is a bargain. If u r patient enough, I think u can net a few grand for the PS3.

I thought you had problem with the PSP...

I don't talk about PSP... I means for PS3 that don't get any problem.

For PSP, only problem with analog stick and directional pad, that all.

PennLive.com

funny that I remember in late 2005, Nintendo Wii has sold over 4 million units at launch while the PS3 only sold over 500,000 units at lauch as well and the PS3 has hit a new record of selling at least 1 million units nation wide. 1 million!

c'mon...thats still not enough.

Sony of America president says, "Are we worried about strong sales of the Wii or Xbox 360? Not really," he said. "It was a great year for the industry overall. With the tide all ships rise."

pfft whatever to Sony.

I know you werent talking about the PSP but since you said you dont have problems with Sony, I thought about awhile back when you were complaining about the PSP due to the control play of the handheld console since it is a Sony product as well.

The UMD movies are failing, so expect soon to see the service for movies download on PSP.

PS3 is in stock right now. Plenty!.. WII still sold out.. Impressive...

Xbox 360 won most selling during holiday! I am not suprised because PS3 and WII sold out so make people to buy xbox 360. That's why.

Thanks to games like Gears of War. :D

Halo 3, you are up!

Mon$ter cable are way overpriced and not the best. You're paying for marketing for those things. Most any cables will do.

On another audio/video mboard, many recommend a site called monoprice.com for decent cables at a low cost.
