Problem with our daughter - Bi-lateral CI

When I read the title of this thread I thought, "Oh no." Glad to know Lotte is doing well with her bilateral CIs! :)

I used to do this to my parents when I still wore hearing aids. Eventually my mother caught on to what I was doing so whenever she saw me put my hand up to my ears she'd say, "Don't you even think about it."

Don't worry, I only do it very occasionally with my husband and for us, it has a positive effect in that it defuses the situation and we both laugh about it. We are very good communicators though and I wouldn't do it if it made things worse for him overall.

With some discussions you just need a time out to allow tempers to cool and rational discussion to commence.

It's just great to sit at the dinner-table, and the children telling about their day.... And Lotte waiting for her turn, and then trying to say everything at once.... Eyes wide open.... firing words as if there's no tomorrow...
Then me an my wife look at each other, and realise this is one of the best decisions that we made.

There is an automatic off-bottom, getting in action in a horizontal position..... but we cannot control it really.
Wonder when she's going to talk in her sleep....

Handy for er, but we are on the receiving end. She'll continue even when the CI is off... and will lipread what we are saying (if we can get a word in..)

But she has (up to now) never used it as a way of excluding us when we are angry with her.
Even when she's crying because she doesn't get her way, she will want to have it on. We witnessed that when we said "No", she trew herself on the floor, and her CI fell off. She the relocated it... Guess crying is not the same when you cannot hear yourself. (for a toddler)

LOL of course not!...Crying isn't the same when you can't hear yourself! One needs to make sure somebody can hear it. :whistle:
