Not likely...not with Obama in the WH.

you forget that it's the Republican Party who is blocking every effort to pass the federal immigration reform. the party of filibuster!

Yup, that why I got tired of political parties battles and want them to get on their ass to pass the immigrant reform.

You sure because someone else said it was me and Koko.....

Blocking????? negotiation/compromise.......That is how our government is supposed to work, We are not a Dictatorship........yet.

I am not one of those that considers The O a moron (yet :) ) He has the intelligence to work with both sides and reach a compromise........but will he do it???? Or does it have to be his way. Period.?????

Immigration "reform" (a bad, bad misnomer!) isn't about border security. It's about giving people who broke the law entering the U.S. without any proper documentation and giving them citizenship status almost over-night. So, yeah, please don't call it a "reform" because it's not.

No, the word for reform is universal and want change the immigration law to make more effective to combat against illegal immigrants. Drug laws need reformed too.

Hardly.

then that's your wish and you don't have much expect about our government is dealing with illegal immigrants because you want conservative politicians to win and care about political battles. :)

Until the border is sealed effectively to stop the bleeding of several thousands illegal aliens crossing the border illegally every week or so, no Immigration "Reform" will make this happen until the border is effectively sealed.

If past administrations can't, then how? sounds like you have a couple of good ideas.

GOP blocked federal immigration reform but supported Brewer's immigration law? :hmm:

btw - what negotiation and compromise? all I hear is filibuster.

That's what Obama is trying to do right now.

Jiro has good question for you so please answer his question.

Yep, the sides are pretty far apart right now.....

Umm.....sides do not filibuster to be big bad meanies. That is normally an indication that the other group is trying to push a bill through without compromise.

again - they supported Brewer's immigration law but not federal immigration reform which is beneficial to Arizona? they haven't supported any federal immigration reform for past 3-4 administrations.

The only way a border will be effectively sealed is to...seal it. Not band aid solutions. It doesn't work nor help on sending down 1200 troops to cover several hundred miles of the most leaky part of the border (equivalent of 1 troop per mile). It needs to be immediate and effective where long term solutions on attacking the leaky border can be done successfully so...without Mexico's meddling. Without the president attacking governors for trying to do something about their own border and illegal aliens problems.

Obama is a minimalist. He does things minimally in order to look like he's actually doing something but he isn't really. A few photo ops here and there. A couple beer summits. A 30 minute talk with Brewer after saying he wouldn't/couldn't see her and calling her actions "misguided" earlier. See the pattern? He's playing people as dupes.

Hence the need for compromise...... :)

And the compromise should start with the active sealing of the border. Make it a national emergency push to get these things done first. Then take care of the internal problems next.
