I can see that ASL students who have a hard time finding decent ASL users events or any where. I can see some of ASL students want to make friends who are ASL users through online. *smh*. I can understand that it's very hard for them to meet ASL users in person. I am guilty of not willing to meeting ASL students only if they are paying me or they are FUN people to chat with.
Recently, My good friend who is a Deaf ASL teacher, and begged some of us to go to a certain bar so her ASL students can meet us at the apprioriate ages. Those ASL students told the Deaf ASL teacher that they met too many OLD deaf people that they have no interests to interact with, but wanted to interact with from age 20s to 50 - 60's, not over 70's.
It seems to me that it is getting worse and worse for ASL students that there are too many hoh/deaf who prefer who want to speak instead.
if my thread does not make sense to you , dont worry about it.
