I prefer the original version. America isn't a Christian nation because there are people of many other religons here too. To be one, it would have to be 100% run by Christians and that would mean a 100% Christian voting population. Also, many Founding Fathers were Deists and, based on Christianity's history in Europe, wanted a government free from religious control.
The government's action should not advance or inhibit religion, get it entangled with religion and be for legitmate secular purposes.
