Police: Man Stabbed, Shot Woman; Turned Gun On Self - Regional News - Berks Story - WFMZ Allentown

Police said they have completed their investigation of the deaths of two people found inside an apartment early Tuesday morning.

They said they determined Edward Arrivello stabbed and shot Karen Wanner and then shot himself inside 107 Colonial Drive in Cumru Township, Berks County. Investigators said they found both a knife and a handgun at the scene.

Police said they had been looking for Wanner, 54, who moved out of the apartment where she had previously lived with Arrivello, also 54. She was living in Shoemakersville, but returned to the apartment for some reason.

Residents of the Governor Mifflin apartment complex woke up Tuesday morning to find yellow police tape surrounding the building.

"I was just concerned because I'm a single parent," said Megan Lopez, who lived in the same building. "I have two girls and it was right outside my window. I was actually shocked just because I'm not used to that out here."

Inside the building, a posted letter stated, "Please be advised that the police activity on the property today has been ruled a domestic relations issue. This was an unfortunate, isolated incident."

"I was just told it was a domestic, that it wasn't anything like a random act of violence, that there shouldn't be any other crimes committed at these apartments," said Lopez.

Police said both Wanner and Arrivello were deaf. They did not have children together, but did leave behind grown children.
