LOUISVILLE -- An 83-year-old woman remains hospitalized after a 15-year-old boy assaulted and robbed her in her own home, local police said.

The alleged attack took place in the 7400 block of Six Mile Lane Friday, WLKY NewsChannel 32's Andy Alcock reported Tuesday.

The victim's husband called police after discovering his wife in the home Friday morning. Police said the man was home when the alleged attack happened, but he didn't hear any commotion because he's deaf.

Metro police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said the neighborhood isn't one where such attacks are commonplace.

"Certainly it's a call to be more cautious, no matter where you live," he said. "But it's a very nice neighborhood, and will continue be that and continue to be patrolled as it always has."

Police said the teen is an acquaintance of the alleged victim, Alcock reported. She's currently in intensive care, but in fair condition.

The boy faces numerous charges, including assault, robbery and intimidating a witness.

These kind of stories makes me sick to my stomach.

They are innocent and vulnerable people and don't deserve such cruelty.

To that 15 year old boy :rifle:

Talk about these days more and more youngsters taking advantage of the elderly and seeing stories where the elderly are beaten up and robbed just breaks my heart...and it's sure unfortunate that the Deaf husband wasn't aware of what was happening to his wife at the time of the incident....it's sad and sure  that this 15 year kid physically harmed her to get what he wanted.... :squint:
