MODESTO, Calif. (Feb. 27) - Police stood watch over the home once shared by Scott and Laci Peterson after Laci Peterson's mother angrily confronted Scott Peterson's family as they hauled furniture and other belongings from the vacant house.

Police stood by on Saturday while the Petersons loaded the truck and then left. Officer Derrick Letsinger said authorities were called out "to keep the peace."

No one was arrested.

Neighbors reported a loud argument between Laci Peterson's mother, Sharon Rocha, and Scott Peterson's mother, Jackie Peterson, and his brother, John, as the Petersons carried belongings to a rental truck, police said.

Rocha left shortly after police arrived, but two people who had accompanied her stayed behind to photograph items loaded into the truck.

Jackie Peterson carried a number of boxes from the house and angrily snapped at reporters gathered outside.

Both women attended almost every day of Scott Peterson's nearly year long trial.

Peterson, 32, was convicted in November of killing his pregnant wife just before Christmas 2002. The jury recommended the death penalty, and he is scheduled to be formally sentenced in March.

Laci Peterson's estate owns at least half of the home. Scott Peterson and his parents own the rest. The home will be listed for sale in the next couple of weeks, according to Rocha's attorney, Adam Stewart.
Sorry no Link, got it off of AOL News.... *grins*

 Wow family battles! It is very diffcult to work on an agreement of settlement of what one family should have and what the other family should have... I am glad nobody was arrested.

Steve....I will ask you again. Why do you mention be my name in these threads....What in the hell is it I have to do with any of them. The police do something, your very quick to say 'I want taylor to explain why they are so bad'.

Did you even read the article?

Laci Peterson's estate owns at least half of the home. Scott Peterson and his parents own the rest. The home will be listed for sale in the next couple of weeks, according to Rocha's attorney, Adam Stewart.

This is what is called a domestic standby. Each party owns half the estate, so they have a right to collect their family members belonging. All the police did was standby so the belongings could be collected.

We do the same thing in ugly divorces....when the husband or wife wants to go back and collect their things but are afraid of something happening. The police come in and do a standby to keep it orderly. We also do it in child custody disputes...again, where two people who are no longer together need to pick up their child (and have court papers to show they have part custody).

Steve....what exactly is it you *think* the police did wrong here? All they did was standby so an altercation doesn't break out while belongings are being collected.

What is your point, and again, why do you mention my name in these threads?

In reference to your having a gun, etc. What happens if you were to get married. You then get a divorce. You want to get your clothes and belongings from you house, but your ex-wife tells you to go screw yourself, your not getting nothing. In your scenario, your wifes brother should be standing by with a gun to shoot you because you want to get your things....Are you saying, he would be right to shoot YOU because you want to get whats yours?

Just because Taylor is a cop, it doesn't mean he has all answer to every cop story or whatever it may be.....

You're just making it worse by putting him into a spot when it has nothing to do with him....

If I was a lawyer, I wouldn't want anyone saying " Hey Let's ask Angel since she's a lawyer , maybe she knows the answer to this or that " Good Grief Ravensteve!

No,,,The way you do this, You get a court order. And it must be agreed by both sides whos whos, and who does this belong to. I dont hear anything agreed on lacis parents.

:slap: Ravensteve, Be nice to Taylor, I know you don't like cops but don't give poor Taylor a hard time. ;)

Steve....re-read it AGAIN. There are lawyers involved. How would you know who is entitled to what? How do you know there is not an agreement over items? But hey, in your world, the solution is to get a gun and shoot everyone there.

From another article (are you reading this Steve)

The argument about 10 a.m. Saturday involved an agreement -- or disagreement -- between the families on when to remove property from the home, which reportedly is to be offered for sale. Applegate said police officers, who commonly respond to such "civil standby" situations, videotaped items that were removed.

The disagreement is over WHEN the agreed upon items were to be removed.

Laci Peterson's mother, Sharon Rocha, got into a loud argument with Scott Peterson's family Saturday morning as the Petersons removed furniture and other items from the couple's vacant Covena Avenue home.
Scott Peterson's family, including his mother, Jackie, and his brother, John, still were loading a large rental truck after noon.

"We're moving out what's left," John Peterson said as he carried a box to the truck.

Sharon Rocha confronted the Petersons shortly after 10 a.m., authorities said. Modesto police were called to the home about 10:20 a.m. after neighbors reported a loud argument.

Scott Peterson, a 32-year-old fertilizer salesman, was convicted in November of killing his pregnant wife, Laci, just before Christmas 2002 and putting her body in San Francisco Bay. The same jury decided in December that Peterson should be executed.

Shortly after officers arrived Saturday, Rocha left and didn't return, officer Derrick Letsinger said. There was no physical altercation, and no one was arrested or cited, Letsinger said.

After Rocha left, two people who had accompanied her stayed and watched. The pair used a camera to photograph items the Petersons were loading into the truck.

Rocha's attorney, Adam Stewart, said Rocha telephoned him from the house and told him about the argument with Jackie Peterson and her son.

"I advised her to calm down and leave immediately," he said. "It could have been a more explosive situation."

Stewart said he was surprised the Petersons showed up Saturday.

He said he thought he had a commitment from one of Scott Peterson's lawyers to honor timelines to clear remaining items from the house.

"But Jackie Peterson took matters into her own hands to move things out. I guess our timeline wasn't acceptable to Jackie Peterson," Stewart said.

He said Rocha went to the house Saturday after someone told her the Petersons were there. Stewart said he talked to the police and requested that officers monitor what was going on.

Stewart said no one but the Petersons and Rochas have a right to be on the property. He said someone with the Petersons "broke the locks on the house" so they could get inside.

Laci Peterson's estate owns at least 50 percent of the home, and Scott Peterson and his parents own the rest, Stewart said. He said the home will be listed for sale in the next couple of weeks.

Police said there were no major problems.

"We were called out here to keep the peace, and we stood by while they (Peterson family) loaded the truck and then left," Letsinger said.

Several times, Jackie Peterson, without the oxygen tank she usually carries, brought boxes out of the house and to the truck.

John Peterson said the Rocha family already had removed electronic equipment, including a television and computer.

Stewart said the Rochas have taken only what they're legally entitled to and what was important to them as far as Laci Peterson was concerned.

John Peterson declined to say where the furniture and other items were being taken.

Just before getting into the rental truck's passenger's seat, Jackie Peterson scoffed at members of the media gathered outside the house, "Is this entertainment in Modesto on a Saturday?" she asked.

Scott Peterson is scheduled to be formally sentenced March 16.

Mark Geragos, his Los Angeles-based attorney, filed a motion for a new trial. Judge Alfred Delucchi has sealed the motion and it will remain under wraps until prosecutors submit their response March 9.

I read it then why are lacis parents are outraged? Cause there was no agreement.

Damn Steve......I even put them in BOLD for you. Their lawyers HAD made an agreement..the problem was the date of when all of this was supposed to happen.

What exactly was it that the police did wrong? You brought me into this thread, so why don't you answer my question (although you are very good at doing this in every other thread you mention me by name). What did those corrupt pigs do now?

Then why did the officers stop it and tell scotts parents,,,Well sir or maddam, This was supposed to happen till such a time? Cops do that to me, I try to park at the stadium 10AM they said sir,, Parking lot doesnt open till 11AM.

Why would they have to tell them anything...they are there to make sure the parties aren't fighting....and the arguing stopped when the officers arrived. They didn't tell anyone they had to leave (both parties have an equal right)..they could have easily told all of them to leave..both the Petersons and the Roucha's.

Steve..you also fail to see the difference between a civil matter and a police matter. Just as an example, lets say you and a neighbor are having a dispute over a tree that sits on your property line. The police don't decide who owns the tree and who cuts it down. This is a civil matter, and its up to you two to settle the matter between each other or go to court over it.
Same deal here....The distribution of their belongings is a civil matter.

Because, the house was originally owned by the couple. Now, one of them is dead, and the other is in Prison. The house that Laci and Scott lived in is going to be sold. The families are going to want to go in there and remove momentos and other things important to them before that happens.

You can't just tell them to leave until the house legally belongs to someone else, and that won't happen until it's sold.

Exactly!

Why didnt they?

Why would they? Who was breaking the law? Who should they have arrested and what is accomplished by telling everyone to leave. The families have a right to get what belongs to them as part of the estate.

Lets say you didn't live with your parents, and something happened to them. Are you telling me that you and your family don't have a right to collect the items in their house? What is it you expect to happen to their belongings?

But Theres a date set, They should have made wait for that date. Just like they made me wait till 11AM to go on the parking lot.

Steve, There is a difference between an agreement between two private parties and what you go through at the parking lot.

What if you had an agreement with the parking lot that you could park there at 10am because you were handicapped with your ill gotten parking placard? If you had such an agreement, then I would agree that you should have been allowed to park there. You didn't have that so......

Your 'agreement' with the parking lot says you park there at 11am, and you are agreeing to it by parking there.....but why would that be a police matter..should the police arrest the parking lot attendant because you want to park at 10am instead of 11am? Or should you be arrested for trespassing or threatening the attendant?

Again, the people in the story were not breaking the law, and both parties have a right to be there, even if they arrived before their agreed upon date. That isn't a police matter, and the police aren't there to solve their civil disagreement. The police became involved because there was a verbal shouting match that the neighbors heard (it was the neighbors who called the police).

There was no parking attendant. The Cops Blocked off the stadium lot so no one can get free parking. But Oh yeah theyre allow the players and the other teams bus though.
