Last week I was diagnosed with pneumonia for the first time in my life and I had to stay home for one week. I finally returned to work yesteday. How did I get it? I suspect that it came from my trip to Calgary which tends to have dry cold air during the time of season. Last Thursday, I went to Lake Louise which was at -10C with my friends and we returned to Calgary which was at 21C at that time, about two hours later. I think the drastic drop in temperature caused pneumonia in my body.

Did you ever have it? Tell us about your experience.

I had walking pneumonia in 2004. We aren't sure where I got it. It was in September and not really cold at all. I spent 6-8 weeks bedridden. I saw the doctor at the beginning, but was sent home and mother picked up prescriptions for me. We kept in touch with the doctor by phone until it was over. I know at one point, I slept for 4 days and nights straight through. Hubby slept in the living room through this and was miserable. I lost close to 50 pounds through it. Because of it, I am more susceptible to pneumonia and the scary part is, I can't have the pneumonia shot or any flu shots due to my allergies.

Royale - Glad you are doing better.

I had it in the 8th grade, I had to stay home for a month.

I had it after I had my second daughter and I was painting a mural in babies room with the windows open in March. I was given the pneumonia shot a few years ago due to having asthma.

I don't recall of have experience on pneumonia for a quite long time.

I had pneumonia when I was two years old and was given a shot that killed the nerves in my ears, so I became deaf.

I had pneumonia when I was 17 years old. They had to put me in intensive care and it nearly killed me. I also had an allergic reaction to the medication they had prescribed so I lost a lot of weight from yakking everywhere.

I had it while I was attending classes in college. Because it was during semester, I kept attending class, which was stupid. It took me about a month to recover as a result. Looking back, the pneumonia was probably viral in nature. Had it been bacterial, I would have never made it. It would have put me in the hospital in fairly short order! MY Dad has had it numerous times. My sister has had it twice. I'm not sure about my Mother.

Glad you're feeling better!!!

I was 13. Out of school for a month. Slept 20+ hours a day on the couch. Ate little. Horrible. But I guess it wasn't too bad compared to others jeez.

I had pneumonia at once when I was 17 years old in 2005 and was out of school for 2 weeks.

It wasn't pleasured at all. :ugh:
