In recognition of her ongoing commitment to deaf and hard-of-hearing people, Karey Pine, director of the Student Life Team at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a college of Rochester Institute of Technology, received the Award of Excellence from NTID’s Deaf Professional Group.
DPG annually recognizes members of the RIT community for dedication to improving the quality of life for deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
“Karey is hard working, student oriented, and always includes deaf staff members in her decision making,” said Keith Mousley, Award of Excellence committee chairperson.
Pine, of Rochester, has held various positions in NTID’s Residence Life and Student Life departments since joining NTID in 1991. She was named director of Student Life in spring 2006. She has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from William Smith College and a master’s degree in Human Resource Development from RIT.
