Phonak vs Unitron

Hello,
I have been told multiple times that Phonak and Unitron are sister companies .. but yet they sound COMPLETELY different. I have a unitron latitude 8 in my left ear and a loaner Phonak Versata in my right ear. I am typically above target, but with the Phonak I am above target and hear NOTHING its so frustrating. Not really sure if this post was a question or a comment. I guess I don't understand why.
 
I always thought they were the same. I've worn both Unitron and Phonak and didn't notice any different.

Is it maybe because one of the hearing aids is old and the other not so and working on different software?
 
I think that's a possibility. I had the same thing happen when I had a loaner Phonak Exalia ( sp?) I am not actually sure if I'm hearing anything out the side with the Phonak .. It's difficult to explain.
 
I thought so too since the 360e and the Max looks totally like the Naida nowadays LOL!!! :D
