Pedophilia made into a sexual orientation

Seriously i dont know what the heck is wrong with them! Its like saying its fine to go do these things.

What?? Of course there are already strong laws against pedophilia and that won't change.

Reporting it so it gets enforced is the key.
 
He problem with APA deciding its a sexual orientation may be that when a pedophile is taken to court they can say its discrimination.

They're distinguishing the difference between having the desire and acting on it. When they talk about orientation, they are strictly referring to *having* the desire. They are now calling that pedophilia. Acting on it is something else. They're using the phrase "pedophilic disorder" to talk about people who act on it as the result of a compulsion. They say they've only changed the terminology.

I am curious as to whether they consider the possibility that some people have the desire and *choose* to act on it, rather than feeling/being compelled to. Seems possible. Some people are pretty creepy, it seems. But I don't know, I haven't studied what happens inside the heads of people who do this stuff.

Scary scary subject at any rate. The amount of long-lasting damage, and the depth of that damage, that can be inflicted on a person in a short time by doing this stuff, it's off the scale.
 
Pedohiplia is when a person has the desire, bit not all act on it. They become a child molester when they act on it. Thats how ive seen it described in psychology classes. Its still ugh...

There are people who still believe that of homosexuality, so I can see how this idea came about. But just because they put a label on the behavior and try to justify it, doesn't make it accurate. If pedophilia is a sexual orientation, then I wonder how these people would explain those turned on by rape or incest......

I don't know who heck pays them...but seriously this is supposed to be reviewed by idk how many psychologists and they still manage to do that....
 
Any form of abuse will be illegal. Homosexual actions if they are consensual is not abuse. Big difference.
 
Well, I saw some stamps actually defend pedophilia and said it is a part of sexual orientation.

I have no problem with its appropriate age for any same-sex or GLBT relationship but children? Hell no! I don't care if it is fictional pairing or not. It's truly disgusting.
 
I thought exclusive pedophilla was REALLY rare,and it's also seen as a co-morbid thing.
It is NOT an orientation......Sorry but it's NOT.
 
The science and what to do with these people side of things is stuck with the problem of trying to wade in and make it better. Shining a big light on it is just the beginning. It is beginning science to grapple with pedophilia. Science labels everything. How else are going to do it? The general label breaks down into sublabels and so on.
