Payback Time for LA

I'm sorry, but I cannot approve of the tactics both states are resorting at and potentially putting their residents at risk.

Although I cannot see Arizona going through with it because of the legal ramifications.

Only 25 percent is supplied by AZ.

So the life-support argument is...

25% is a significant number and California has a population of at least 35 million. We only have 33 million in the entire country of Canada. Keep in mind that there are hospitals too.

I am sure hospitals will get priority for electrical useage.

must be Window XP :mad2:

*it's a pix of blue screen of computer error commonly called BSOD - Blue Screen of Death. It's what will happen when your computer froze/crashed.

LOL.....no my point was LA didn't have enough power during the rolling blackouts. I doubt they can just snap their fingers and replace a 25% loss

that's why it won't happen especially with public utility. It's illegal and it's asking for DOJ/civil lawsuits. LA/SD used economic-boycott - private businesses.

Real Life Example? it's illegal for mass transit employees to go on unauthorized strike. It's punishable by jail and fines.

Right and I believe people should be punished to the extent of the law. That goes for making threats even if it's just bluffing.

with the way our power infrastructure (outdated and complicated) is designed - it doesn't work like that.

I agree but I doubt it'll happen but if they do - good luck AZ with dozens of civil & federal lawsuits & investigations :)

I'm wondering how will AZ explain for hundreds, if not thousands, of dead patients and people due to power cut-off.

Ain't that the truth? Remember the Blackout of August 2003?

Care to show the law that says it is illegal????

AZ's electricity would only be considered a utility in AZ. It's a business when sold accross state lines.

Same thing is going on here in TX/OK except with water.

Even if they do a hike on the cost of electricals? :)

oh that's possible and I believe that's not illegal unless there's a state or federal law that puts a cap on electricity cost.

ie. Hawaii has a cap on gas price.

Easy...We terminated a business relationship. We were not required to provide electricity to CA.

There ya go. Hike the cost for low-priority areas; subadize the high priority areas.

Roll back the policy when the sources can match the power consumption.

Can't really compare it to a blackout because AZ issued a warning; LA has time to prepare to cut back on power consumption by 25-30 percent.

Yup, If they don't the fault lies with LA......not AZ

yes - that is a prime difference. Pulling a plug just like that is illegal.

As Gary Pierce wrote in response to CA - "If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation."

That is legal.

Alot of electric cars in LA.......... :)

Well, California is the largest producer of agricultural products. It is likely they will be forced to raise prices on agricultural products if the water is cut off. AZ does have agricultural crops.
