Parks Canada Agency is pleased to be participating in the seventh Deaf Canada Conference to be held in Quebec City from July 17 to 22, 2006. The conference brings deaf people of all ages together to work toward improved accessibility, deaf community development and the promotion of Canadian Deaf heritage.

Artillery Park National Historic Site of Canada is proud to be presenting interpretation activities and services for visitors in Langue des signes quebecoise (LSQ) and American Sign Language (ASL) through the months of July and August 2006.

Thanks to the Young Canada Works program, deaf youth have been hired, trained and integrated into Artillery Park's welcome and interpretation staff to offer one-hour guided tours for deaf people. Interpreter-guides in full period costume are available Wednesdays through Sundays inclusive. These services can be reserved through the Bell Relay Service or TDD/Tel.: 418-648-4205.

You are also invited to come and meet us at the Sainte-Foy Plaza Hotel during the conference at kiosk 24 in the Wagner-Vivaldi Hall. Costumed interpreter-guides will be pleased to answer your questions regarding our services.

In keeping with the 2006 conference theme, "Unite, Reflect, Act... The Future is in our Hands," Parks Canada encourages you to pay us a visit.

Located in the heart of Old Quebec at 2 D'Auteuil Street near the Saint-Jean Gate, Artillery Park bears witness to more than 250 years of French, British and Canadian military history. It is part of Parks Canada's Quebec network of national parks and historic sites, which offer first-rate welcome services and exceptional heritage experiences.
