I've never owned cats on my own but did with my ex for a short time and now with my current girlfriend. I never had MY own cats, but those cats are hers but we share them. My parents and I have had cats but never really paid attention how they take care of the cats in depth.

Same here. I've had a couple feline companions but only because THEY adopted ME. :lol:

this is typical for most cats they pick you and rarely the other way around:giggle:
my own fur-ball chose me when she was 9 weeks old!
my girl and I started working with her using voice command and asl:shock:
(yes, the cat understands about 20 signs) and i understand tiggers body language very well!

when i ignore her she gets miffed and will nip the back of my leg:laugh2:(not very hard though)

you can purchase a good uv light from this site that will show up urine spots for easy cleanup
