Orissa: International day of deaf celebrated at Berhampur, Orissa Event Diary

Commemorating the 54th International day of deaf the Ganjam District Deaf and Dumb Association (GDDADA) has acknowledged its legal demands to bring the physically disables to the forefront of the society. Here on Sunday the association registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 organised a program at the Sahhid Laxman Nayak community hall.

On this occasion Sub- collector Ajit Kumar Mishra and the Berhampur Municipal Commissioner Bhim Man Seth are being present as the guests and inspired the disables to move forward.

Flaunting his happiness the Chairman of GDDADA Prafulla Jagarnath Padhi said “on this juncture celebrations are made by exhibiting the paintings and handicrafts prepared by the disables (deaf & dumb). Many deaf and dumb children have participated in the celebration and in the exhibition as well which shows their talent and interest towards leading a good life.

The members of GDDADA have demanded suitable employment opportunities in the public sector as well as grant of loans for self-employment for the deaf, passed HSE or +2 examinations. As per their demands, issue of hearing impaired certificates to the partially deaf as fully deaf by the doctors for their personal benefits should be stopped as this leads to misuse of certificates at the time of getting employment. Among others Association Secretary Jagat Singh Panda and President K. Aditya Kumar are also present.
