I don't recall seeing this IM before and wonder if anyone tried it yet?

Octro

It seem to be IM with VOIP combo and is BETA so it free to use now until beta testing ends.

Wow, I should check out that application to see how I like it. I just sent the link to mail2web.com on my phone so I can download it from that download page. ;)

that is what i did download that program and send it to my friend who has Bjack. He has Mundu IM and i think he will let me know how he will like Octrotalk IM. :D

I download it and check it out but it doesn't seem to be an IM just a VOIP program that uses other IM buddy list to call them.

I haven't read the manual then again it is beta and probably not even close to being done. I found nothing worthwhile having Octrotalk installed and already removed it from my phone =P

Proabably good for hearing folks but maybe they will use something like Octrotalk in TelCap relay service on mobile VOIP thou! It look promising!

Ok thank you I will have to go read the manual and figure it out and learn it some more. When I first installed it, I couldn't find any setting to add my AOL or my MSN accounts in Octrotalk at all so I am sure I did not give myself enough time to look it over more carefully.

If I still can't figure it out I'll ask some questions on Octro's support site. Thanks for pointing this out to me and I'll certainly give it a try again and read the docs on it. I wanted to try it because from Octro website photos it does look like a good piece of IM software to use.

Thanks!

AH! I overlooked the account settings for IMs

It is in Options -> Accounts -> Legacy Accounts and in there you can set up your AIM MSN etc.

The "Legacy Accounts" threw me off and I wasn't sure what it was and never tapped on it to check hehehe.

Now I am logged in so to play with it some!!

TIP : Be sure you are in Availabe mode so if you see "On OctroTalk" in the upper left tab then tap on it or go to Option -> Status and tap on "Availabe" and you should be able to start using it as an IM.

It is not necessary to change your status to Available to use OctroTalk. The default status "On OctroTalk" means Available or Online through OctroTalk.

I've tried it out and I didn't like it. Ill stick with I'M+ instead.

thanks for sharing.

When it was set on default "On OctroTalk" I wsa unable to recieve any IMs at all. I had my brother send me several IMs and it would just not appear on my OctroTalk however I could send him IMs.

I changed it to "Available" and I started to recieve IMs so I assume I had to have it at Available to recieve them.

I am aware it beta and maybe a bug?

This should not happen. We tried, but could not reproduce this problem. If this happens again, let us know.

The current trial version v1.19 of OctroTalk will not expire, even if is past the expiration date, till the pricing of the product is decided. Pricing will be decided only after the Symbian and J2ME vesions are released and tested.
