Shhhh....don't tell our resident Obama hater. His head will explode.:giggle:

I hear there's the Golden Gate bridge up for sale for a buck. ;)

Evidently, some right winger sold it to you, and now you are trying to unload it.:giggle:

Goodness gracious, chile. And here I was, thinkin' da offer too good to be true!

I guess believing in a bill that'll save hundreds of billions of dollars and won't raise the deficit in a new program was based on historical records in the govt which has never happened before? Ya'll just bought yourself a bridge (dozens I'd say) that I never even touched.

Congrats.

How would you know? You haven't even managed to read the bill, much less historical documents.

Name a successful program that was set up by Congress that enabled the govt to save hundreds of billions of dollars.

Medicare fraud and waste cost taxpayers $40 to $60 billion dollars a year. Savings on paper is vastly different from real life examples.

Obama is hardly responsible for the waste and fraud found in Medicare. Blame that on previous leaders. He is the only one who has come up with a reasonable proposal to deal with that waste and fraud effectively. What would you suggest? Let me guess: more of the status quo.

Reasonable? That's why I gave this Medicare as an example of continuing fraud and waste all these years. Name a time that such an idea has ever been efficient and a money saver?

Again, Obama is not responsible for the fraud and waste that has been found in Medicare. That is the responsiblity of previous administrations.

well, tort reform could save 54 billion dollars

Tort reform needs to be kept in a realistic perspective. Those states that have enacted tort reform have not seen a significant decrease in the costs of medical care. While I think that tort reform should definately be a part of any reform (and this reform includes such), I don't think it will produce any significant and beneficial changes on its own. Especially in the matter of access.

*whistle*

I said "...all these years.." note the plural. :cool2:

Exactly. Which simply supports my statement regarding the responsibility of past administrations. In case you missed the point of the discussion, it is what can be done now to rectify past errors. Simply pointing out that the system has failed under past administrations is not contributing to that topic. We all know the system has failed under past administrations. That is why reform is so desperately needed now.

Not gonna happen when you have Obama's favorite lobbyist lawyers who will make sure Tort reform won't get placed in any bills.

Which again is why I brought up Medicare's own failure at the hands of the govt. What makes you think it'll be successfull when in the past showed that very same incompentency, inefficiency, and a system that reeked of mismanagmenet? We don't have the money, the resources, the people (doctors and nurses), the huge influx of people getting into the system (including illegal aliens convenientely converted to legal status) and so on. Hence, ya'll think you just bought a cheap bridge.

At the beginning of Bush'es term there was a surplus in Medicare/Social Security funds. Bush raided them to pay for his spending programs, so whine all you want. Don't lay it all on the current administration unless you want to sound like a fool.
