NYT: Sarah Palin to become Fox News contributor

All news agencies bow down to the Almighty Dollar. Fox fills a niche. The Conservatives need a gathering spot. The one big thing FoxNews has, is that they are the only game in town for news slanted to the right. Most other news slants to the left. It also never hurts to load up on controversial program hosts and cute blonde reporters. Fox clearly wins those categories.

Pretty big niche I'd say. Puts other news media to shame.

Cable News Ratings for Thursday, January 7, 2010 - TV Ratings, Nielsen Ratings, Television Show Ratings | TVbytheNumbers.com

Imagine by the time Palin goes on the air, we should see a big jump in the number of viewers that will push Foxnews even further out ahead of their nearest competitor.

What is funny about those ratings is that they are pretty consistent from program to program which you would expect.......right....nothing but the right wing watching. BUT....Greta and Sheppard Smith both supported Obama in the election and there ratings margins are two of the largest.

That's why Fox can honestly claim to be fair and balanced. This is also why Fox News is hated so much. Other networks are losing their base audience to a network that programs to both sides.

Don't forget. Glenn Beck. He's a libertarian. Though he didn't vote for Obama. Of course not, it goes a bit deeper than that.

so...... what do ya'all watch?

I prefer Fox But I also watch CNN, a little BBC and CNBC for business. I watch alot of news. I trust Fox and as I said I prefer Fox but I don't think it is wise to get all of your News from one source. I think that is the problem Network news had. People began to watch certain personalities like Cronkite or Brinkley and they watched them for so long without a differing viewpoint that these guys could say anything and their followers would believe it.

I don't have cable or satellite (yet). Everything's on the internet. And, yes, I prefer Foxnews as my video source. Others are in electronic format over the internet. Others I listen are on the radio. It was quite amusing to watch Hannity and Colmes.

What sob stories? I don't see how mocking and asking questions equate to "sob stories."

ah ok cool. :ty: for answering my question.

as for me - I don't watch any news in tv. I do get my news online like cnn and nytimes. If I claim to be a Centrist - perhaps I should keep an open mind about Fox News and include it to see the differing view on same issue.

and now she's got a little gig in Las Vegas

Palin to address alcohol industry event in Las Vegas
Washington (CNN) – Las Vegas and alcohol probably aren't the first two things that come to mind at the mention of Sarah Palin, but the former vice presidential candidate is about to change that.

At least that's according to Craig Wolf, the president and CEO of the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America, who announced Tuesday that Palin will keynote the group's annual convention and and expo in Las Vegas in early April.

"Governor Palin is a great supporter of America's free enterprise system and understands that industries like the beverage alcohol industry play a key role in driving our national economy. We're proud and honored to welcome her as a speaker," Wolf said in a statement. "We expect she will share with the convention attendees her analysis of the current political environment and her vision for America's future."

The convention includes a "Wine and Spirits Tasting Competition," which, according to the press release, "secured a spot on the agenda after drawing overwhelming response and favorable feedback during its debut" last year.

An aide to Palin was not immediately available to confirm the WLWA appearance.

The Las Vegas stop comes a few days before Palin is scheduled to address the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, a major gathering of GOP leaders that that in recent years has become an early proving ground for potential presidential candidates.

very interesting that she'll be talking about alcohol since Alaska is notorious for strict alcohol control.

Not quite. More like misleading readers to what she said or was conveying in the video. She made clear she wasn't blaming Iraq on 9/11 but whether terrorists used Iraq and any connection in a discussion and not about believing Iraq had to do with 9/11. Big difference. I watched that 15 minute video last night. Did you?

New poll shows majorities don't want Palin to run

(CNN) - Sarah Palin attracted huge crowds across the country last fall as she promoted her best-selling memoir, but a new survey suggests an overwhelming number of Americans don't want the former Alaska governor to run for president.

According to a new CBS News poll out Tuesday, 71 percent are against the former Republican vice presidential candidate launching her own bid for the White House in two years while 21 percent are in favor of a potential run.

Broken down by party, 56 percent of Republicans are against a potential Palin presidential campaign while 30 percent are for it. Meanwhile, the vast majority of Democrats, 88 percent, are not in favor of a Palin presidential run.

The survey also finds significantly more people view Palin negatively than positively: 41 percent negative compared to 26 percent positive.

Both those numbers have increased since Palin's high-profile book tour late last year and since becoming a Fox News contributor last week. In November, 38 percent held an unfavorable view of Palin while 23 percent held a positive view of her.

Among Republicans in the latest poll, 43 percent hold a positive view of Palin while 30 percent of independents do. Meanwhile, just under a half of conservatives view Palin favorably while only 16 percent of liberals do.

Meanwhile, a majority of conservatives, 58 percent say Palin should run for president in 2012.

Kokonut, toobad, you won't have Palin in white house on Jan 20, 2013 and many independent voters don't want her either.
