Florida Crime Down for 13th Straight Year
Then How come back in 2003 that teen girl was raped and murdered in tampa by a sexaul predator after the judge didnt put the sexual predator back behind bars after he volated his parole? Explan That one!
How come Jessica Lunsford was molested and murdered by the sexual predator in homossasa county after he buried her alive and then the sheriff hollas for the death penalty But the states attorny general refuse to prositcute 3 other men involved ?Explan that one?
How come you have another sexaul predator in dade county who abducted a 17 year old girl and sexauly assulted her.

You know why the press says this bullshit florida crime is down? Simple to keep your local sheriff re-elected.The Media doesnt care about you all they care about is getting money for their advertising purposes to keep your local sheriff re-elected for another 4 years. Now about the Florida crime report, they are probably adding up all the statistical data for all crimes, and then, coming up with an overall average. Therefore, it's quite possible to have an overall downward trend in crime, while some crimes like rape or murder remain high.

It's the ebb and flow of things, Steve. Unfortunately, that's the way things go. Any intelligent person knows that crime is a problem, and you don't have to look at stats to tell you that!
 
crimes in charlotte, the biggest city in NC has actually been decreasing due to lack of murder, rape, and robberies since our police department is getting bigger and bigger.
 
Just because a couple of crimes are given media attention, does not mean that crime isn't decreasing.

We do not need to hear any more bad news from the media. That is why, the ladies would not tolerate with you.

Turn the TV off and do not buy any more newspaper or read the website.

well it's actually more of a democrat state since Tallensesse and Jacksonville are democrat cities so...I guess the rest can be republican...I dunno, really.

If I were you, I wouldn't believe everything that media had printed in newspapers or in news....Just because someone thinks the crime rate went down, I wouldn't even believe it myself...

on a serious side...crime is down almost everywhere. media is the reason crime seem's to be increasing. now that the iraq war is getting old, they need something scary/VERY interesting to keep us on our toes and reading their news, so they display only the most greousome or mind catching things. (such as a murder, abduction, missing persons, etc)
 
Crime is down in Florida. Just because you hear more bad stuff on the news doesn't mean there is more bad stuff going on. Seems that if there is one 'sensational' story, there are more to follow.

For example, do you remember the shark attacks a few years ago. Every day there would be more and more stories about shark attacks. One would think that sharks were turning on mankind. People were afraid to go to the beach because of all the shark attacks. Thing is, shark attacks were down that year and less people were being attacked, yet there was more news coverage.

I know you could care less about stats and what the numbers are (you seem to believe whatever you want to believe), but I will post them here for the other members of AD.

We'll go back to 1990 (although published stats go back much further)

Indeed, crime has gone down nationwide. I am a criminal justice major and that is a topic that's frequently discussed in most of my classes. People have the misconception that crime is increasing - it's all a matter of media coverage. Crime is not as frequent as it was in the past, which is WHY the media is focusing on crimes that just happened since it's not happening often anymore. Also, the other reason why media especially like to focus on things such as sexual crimes - it's a phobia of current standards, parents are so worried of their kids being sexually assaulted, and any sexual abductions or whatever will get their attention. It's what the media wants - they want to get your attention, and apparently (unfortunately) ravensteve, they caught your attention and swayed your mind in the wrong direction.

I was going to look up for some supporting evidence, but taylor took care of that. You can't argue against the statistics.
