Not all deaf people want to be 'fixed'

You ain't broken! :giggle:

The only time I feel broken it when I bang my head , and I do this a lot!! I need a hard hat! I have notice we been getting hit with a lot of threads from people that think we have a 'condition' that need to be fix or that we need to rescues as we're so helpless and lost. When will people realize that being deaf or HOH doesn't mean we're helpless and can't take care of ourselves.

How do click onto say you like a thread??

I think it's not so much that we become better, but that we become easier for them (hearing people) to handle. It's easier for them to not have to learn to sign. It's easier for them if we could just hear them. Its about them, not us.

Exactly. It is about addressing THEIR needs, not the needs of the Deaf. And that is what is so offensive: the thought that people need to be changed to make it easier for the other.

The bottom right hand corner, just above reply, if you move mouse 'like' will appear. Then you click on it. It only appears if your mouse is near it. I hope that make sense.
